About 15 years, just check the edges periodically.

You're obligated to check it every 6 months and recaulk areas as needed. You're not obligated to recaulk everything every 6 months.

Were there areas that needed to be caulked when they looked at it? Did worn sealant cause the damage?

My jay flight is 14 months old and I haven't done any lap sealant maintenance yet.
It hasn't needed it.

Great advice on taping over the factory joints.

I checked the seal a few months back and didn't see anything that jumped out at me or I would've done something about it. It actually looks like the leaks are coming from the rear clearance lights and not the roof.

I dropped off my camper today at the dealer and the owner said there is no way this is my fault. He said that he is going to pull the rubber back and find out what happened and fix the problem. Then when camping season is over he will replace the rear panel on my FW. He said the severity of the damage led him to believe the problem was there when I purchased the camper.

Kelly at Miles RV in Hendersonville NC. These are good people that stand behind their product.

Who told you initially that the claim was denied then?

Grumpy, do you use this on the slides as well? Is this similar to the tape that jayco already uses on the slide roofs from the factory?

I sent pictures to the dealer and they submitted them on my behalf. Jayco then said that they would not cover the damage because I didn't recaulk after the first 6 months and it was my fault. The dealer then assured me that this would be taken care of and that the warranty denial was just "the first line of Jayco warranty claims". I'm thinking the dealer didn't want to stick his neck out without seeing the damage for himself. After seeing the damage the dealer said that either Jayco or the dealer would be footing the bill to have this fixed correctly because there was no excuse for this amount of damage to be there after only 10 months of ownership.
