3 bad ac units what's and an ocassional buzz from inside the electrical box
I have 2015 jayco pinnacle flsa I had to replace 2 ac units last year due to bad compressors. I had a the repair guy check my electrical system he said it was good. I check the service at the campground and it' was an average 118 to 119 volts. The Camper had. Been Camped in twice befiore I bought last June. I live in it so the ac units it has two ran Everest till sometime in July when the first one went out. You could turn it on the fan would run but when the conoressor kicked in it would lock up and shake and kick the breaker. The second one died maybe 2 weeks later. I got 2 new Coleman low profile ac units installed and maybe 2 months later the rear one did the sane thing again. Any thoughts

I went through the same thing with my last 5th wheel (not a Jayco). Bought in 2014 I had the AC units replaced 3 times before I traded it in. Never was able to get a reason for the problem. Was told last that the ducting may have been part of the issue, but I traded it in before I found out.

Before replacing units, make SURE the RUN Capacitor is good. I am a retired AC guy & still can't understand why some dont check the cap , just condemn the compressor.
Those cheap china caps the mfg's are using made me a small pile of retirement funds.

We just had our rear AC quit working yesterday on a 95 degree day. It sounds like the compressor runs for about 60 seconds and then shuts off and the blower continues to run. We have a two 15,000 BTU Coleman Machs on our 2015 Pinnacle 36 FBTS. We are having one heck of a time finding someone to work on it as everyone seems to have a 2-week wait list and we are scheduled to leave this area in 2days. I was interested in your comment about checking the cap. What, specifically would I be looking for since I am NOT an AC specialist but I do need AC right now. [emoji1]

If you know what a capacitor looks like you will likely see some bulging on the end where the connections are. Just about any supply house that stocks ac parts should have one in stock. Take it to them and get one the same size and capacity as the defective one.
There may be two in the unit on top of your rv. One is a start cap and the other is a running capacitor.
Be careful not to touch the connections as they can give you a pretty nice shock even if the power is off.
BTW, power down the unit before doing any work on it.

I am not an expert in AC electrical at all but did you measure your AC voltage while under load or static? Will the AC voltage experience drops when under load from two AC units? Maybe the supply side of things is deficient.

Have you checked the wiring to assure that the ac units are on different legs of 120v when you are plugged into 50a service?
If for sure you, it could point to some low voltage problems that could be a cause of the problems.
Another tool may be a laser thermometer to look for hot connections in your breaker panel.

If you have not gone through and tightened all the wiring connections in the breaker panel, do so, before you check anything else. I did this the first week we had the trailer, sure enough a couple of them were not fully tight. The drop in voltage would easily cause the issues you describe.

Make sure you have a dedicated (and secure) ground in your shore electrical box.

I had the same thing happen to mine. There is a foil lined foam panel in the A/C that separates the warm air being sucked in to the cold air being blown out. The panel came loose and was letting cold air into the intake causing the thermostat sensor to cool down quickly and shutting down the compressor. The compressor would stay on for about 30 seconds then shut down when the sensor got cold. Something worth looking at...
