31.5RLTS Eagle SuperLight and 06 F-250 6.0 PSD

We are looking at purchasing a 2013 31.5RLTS Eagle. I want to keep my current TV, 06 F-250 6.0 PSD. I'm not worried about total weight (10K #'s on the door sticker) as much as I am the pin weight (2090# per Jayco website) . I would appreciate thoughts from anyone who is using this combo (or similar weights) now. Of course the salesman says this 5ver is made for the 250/2500 series trucks but I prefer to hear real world experiences from owners. We currently pull a 2006 Jayflight 27.5RKS without breaking a sweat. Thanks everyone.

We have a 2012 31.5RLTS and an 07 Ford F250 and I love the combination. We also added a 37 gallon Transfer Flow in bed fuel tank so I went a bit over on the GVWR for the truck but still just barely within axle weights. I had Firestone Ride Rites installed when I had the B&W and Companion installed. I also bought a set of F350King Ranch wheels and tires from Craigslist to give me a little more breathing room on the tire weight. The combination pulls great and with all the gear we carry we are right about 6100 on the drive axle. I think you will be fine, its a great trailer and TV combination.

Just remember that the listed pin weight is probably not the real ready to travel pin weight. I know when I take my 31.5 in for service they move it around with a forklift and the driver tells me that he can't believe how heavy the pin is on a SuperLite. The last time I saw them move it with the forklift it actually lifted the rear wheels of the forklift off the ground. I am not familiar with payload capacity of the F250 but I know that the 31.5RLTS as loaded to travel is all my F350 wants. YMMV

That is the dry pin weight, not the loaded weight. Might be looking at 10% or so more when fully loaded and ready to go. In my opinion, the HT series is better suited as a "superlite" FW, and that's what I bought, not because of the pin weight, but because of the overall weight for towing. When I bought mine, we owned a Dodge 2500 diesel with a 3.42 rear end and six-speed manual. Felt I needed to go lower weight to accommodate the higher gears. Turns out, I was right, but only when adding the boat on back of the FW for towing. So, we went with a GMC 2500HD D/A combo and now have great towing capacity. If I had owned the GMC when buying our new FW last year, we would have probably gone with the Eagle superlite and not the HT package. I would bet you will be fine, but the weight police will be along here pretty soon to let you know.

Thanks for the replies. I'm leaning away from this model. I'm certain I'll be pushing the TV to the limits especially in the payload department. This particular camper has the bedroom AC adding to the pin weight so I'll hang with what's sitting in the driveway for now.

I added the second A/C to my 31.5 and yes it added additional pin weight. I note that some recommended air bags and what not as well but just remember that none of these add ons will increase the manufacturer's weight ratings. It may fix any sag problems and what not but it still will not raise the manufacturer's weight ratings.

You are quite right that GVWR is different from GCWR but pin weight is more dependent on the vehicle gross axle weight rating (GAWR) for the rear axle. That is the rating that you need to make sure your TV is adequate to handle the pin weight in addition to all of the other weight ratings.

My combination works just fine no concerns with weight and typically load firewood into the bed to make sure I have a supply of dry wood, too may parks with wet wood here. I think you will be fine but you need to be comfortable with it to enjoy the trip.

Last year we switched from a Class A to the Super Lite 31.5. We are fulltime now and love the room inside the 5th wheel. We also have a 2006 F250 CC 5.4 that pulls and rides just fine. We do slow down a bit in the hills, but it gives time for traffic to clear out and we get to enjoy the views.

Does your F250 have a long bed? If not, what hitch setup do you have with the 30.5 RLS. We have a 2012 F250 power stroke diesel & will be picking up our 30.5RLS next month. Our truck bed is 6ft 9 in. - want to make sure we have the correct setup to be safe.
