33.5 RETS and 321 RLTS pin weights?

The bride and I are planning on upgrading to a 5th in 3-4 years and like these 2.
The 33.5 RETS dry pin wt is 1815# and GVWR of 11995#. So max pin wt 1800-3000# roughly.
The 321 RLTS dry pin is 2285#, GVRW 14500# So pin wt 2175-3625#.
I'm assuming pin wt is 15-25% GVWR (kind of a worst case thing).
Can any you good folks with these (or similar) TT's report your pin wt's?
I'd also be curious what your TV is.
Next year or two we plan to upgrade our TV and I'm starting to think about that step.
I've always been a blue oval guy and don't expect that'll change so I'm tryin to figure out 250/350 gas/diesel SRW/DRW......
Any and all opinions are welcome ( just don't tell me I need a Chevy, dodge ... :hihi

Side note, we're leaving for San Marcos TX next Wed for a long weekend

I fall under the 321 RLTS class above and would say that you definitely do not want to under class your TV since you will be buying that ahead of a potential unit. There are pluses and minuses to each TV. Here is my 2 cents

I went with with a Diesel 1 ton DRW. You won't need to add air bags down the line which many do in the 250 case. Dual rear wheels for safety and some added stability. Long bed or short bed is not as crucial, but your hitch setup will be more depending on which you select. I strongly suggest a king pin cushioning point whether it is the Mor Ryde or the actual hitch itself. Over long trips it is a necessity, especially on the cement roads or uneven roads.

Gas vs Diesel is again a personal choice. While the gas will pull it, you will most likely get worse gas mileage and have less power in certain cases. The longevity of the Diesel is greater but maintenance is more expensive and crucial. Newer diesels also have emission additives that will add to your cost per mile. While gas is a cheaper off the lot purchase and might suit you well. I went with the Diesel and I am very happy but a strong case can be made for each.

If you are going to be doing a lot of mountain climbs, long hauls and really rack up miles then I would say 1 ton DRW Diesel. If this is a weekend, few longer trips a summer and a daily driver then you could scale it back to a SRW 1 ton Gas and have a decent TV when required, but not killing your pocket under your normal daily use or maintenance.

If buying used your perfect world options are limited too. Much like you I had a long range plan and it took me 8 months to find the right fit based on price, mileage and options. I came close to settling a few times but took a step back and talked myself out of it. Finally my search came up with a local truck in my desired ranges and required options which I jumped on. If your going new then start saving for that down payment and see what technology brings in regards to fuel economy over the coming years.

Once you have the TV it's hard not to push up the date for getting into the next class of Trailer. I lasted 3 months...

Good luck.

3's,
Thanks for your input! You've obviously been down the trail that I'm following. If I were king of the world (or just had all the $$ in the world) I'd get the 350 DRW PS. The '13 towing guide says it's good for 22000# (5th wheel) and while I haven't found the 350 cargo wt I figure my guess at 3000# pin wt should not be a problem.
All my whining about the $$ being over, the price of the 350 wouldn't be a deal breaker. The bride and I are still flopping back & forth over which TT we prefer. By the time we actually pull the trigger on the TT I expect 3-4 years will go by (yeah, I hear your 3 month story.........must resist....must resist) but I expect something similar will be available when we get there.
I'm still paying Social Sec so our outings are weekends and week in duration. After "graduation" we plan to spend some extended time travelling our great country.
I'm starting to think for 14500 GVRW the 350 DRW is the thing but at 11995 GVRW I could do with a 250.
Yesterday the bride was telling me about parking next to a Super Duty crew cab (and what sounded like a long bed). She was amazed at how loooooooooong it was ("some kind of weird pickup stretch limo thingy" is how she put it). "Yeah", says I, "Just imagine it with an extra set of wheels in back".
Hmmmm, may have widen the driveway.
And how goofy will it look it we tow our little X23B with something like that?

Anyway, the march is on.

I have a 2010 Ford F250 diesel 4WD and it pulls our 351 RLTS just fine. Didn't add or change anything on my truck to pull it.

We have a 351 RLTS and a 2012 F-350 4x4 CC LB 6.7 Diesel. It is a VERY long configuration is right. Limo thingy. LOL
I had a SB and because of the tight turns in some CG's having a slider hitch became an issue, so I traded the SB for the LB Limo option. Love it. Tows like a dream, I can pass semi's, climb hills, sometimes I forget the 5er is even back there. Wind is not an obsticle any longer with the 5er either.

Same setup for awhile but was 2003 GMC 3/4 crew LB with Duramax.I did add "supersprings" and exhuast but had no real problems. Now have a '12 Chevy Crew 1T LB dually, wont go back to srw cause no comparison pulling our 321RLTS.Some of the difference is in the 6speed allison instead of the old 5 and that 97 extra horses & forgive me but cant remember the higher torgue number.

All you folks are awesome. Never knowing anything doesn't bother me cause I know where to find people that do know.
One thing stands out, no one has posted pin weight. Do 5'ers not measure that? I've not researched cargo cap's yet so I don't really know if that's something to worry about.
Pooh, I see you added assist springs on your older TV so my guess is you were a little heavy on the axle. And I think you're on to something tho, there's no replacement for HP & torque.

New Q. Is there a difference in LB vs SB? I might expect the LB to have a little more directional authority (don't know what else to call it) but not sure. Opinions? Pooh, you're disqualified since both your TV's were LB.

We have the 321LRTS and traveling last year I weighed it and had a pin weight of 3000lb. With a 100 gal aux diesel tank and the weight of the truck my rear axial was close to 6000lb which would have almost maxed out single rear wheels.

Dont disqualify me,had both short beds for 2 years prior to the '03,first and last one(3/4 chevycrew had 6.5 ft bed). For me,I will never own another shortbed truck, just wont carry as much "stuff" when you need a truck to be a truck and not a TV.Not saying they are bad just not my idea of what I will own.

I hear you, although harder to park, I don't care, next truck will be a long bed. If it weren't for the 5th wheel, I would have a nice big SUV. Truck is for 5th wheel even tho it serves as a TV 99.9% of the time. I would love to have extra space for stuff in the bed.
