365BHS and Low Clearances

I would love to hear from other 365BHS owners. I am thinking about buying one of these and the height really concerns me. I have seen several bridges that the trailer would not make it under. Tell me how you guys handle low clearances. The documentation from Jayco says the trailer is 160" or 13'4", is that how tall it is hooked up to a 4X4 which is even taller than the normal truck.

Thanks,
Monte

Although my 30.5BHLT is about 12' 10", I won't go under anything labeled 13'6" anyway and will always opt for the truck route.

That's a good question. I just bought a 365BHS and should know this, for when I eventually get a truck.

I think I have decided to get a 30.5BHLT, not as much trailer but just right for us. I love the way it looks. My dealer just ordered one to put on the lot exactly like I want, I think I will buy it after it comes in and I can see it in person.

The BHLT is a nice floor plan and not as large as the BHS which for me was a plus.

There are other significant differences. The 30.5BHLT has one washroom, not two, 1/3 black water capacity, 6 gal water heater, not 12. The 365BHS has nicer cibinets & hinges, lighting, much larger closet in main bedroom, etc. But, of course, you pay more.

I am sure you will be happy with what ever you get.

The BHLT has an outdoor 2 burner stove and sink with hot / cold water and hose with sprayer attachment.

Ok, well here is what I have found out. There are free POI (Point of Interest) files that you can load into your GPS that will alert you when you are near a low clearance. I loaded it and played with it and I love it. So I think that problem is solved.

I really do like the 365BHS and it is $10,000 higher than the 30.5BHLT. I would gladly pay about $3000-$5000 more but 10 is hard to swing. I really do like the U shape table for more than 4 people to eat at. My kids love the Loft too. I do loose the 1/2 bath which I really did like. I loved the idea of the small windows at the top of the main slide out, I don't understand why Jayco doesn't do that in the other trailers. The middle section is the same size and the bedroom and bathroom are smaller. One thing that I really like on the BHLT is the door at the back to load stuff and you could really put some heavy things back there to lighten the hitch weight it need be. So I guess my dream of getting the 365 has changed. I was shocked to see a 2010 model in Abilene Texas selling for $26,000. I have no idea what the scoop is on that trailer, but you have to know that the trailer is in the money there. I think it was at Jerry's in Abilene. It just doesn't have very many adds, but still that price is a great price. I can't wait to see a 30.5BHLT in person, my dealer should have it in 6-8 weeks. He ordered it exactly the way I want it and I gave him a price quote from RV Direct so he could match price too.

I see you have a 2006 F-250. Does yours have the navigation, do you use a separate GPS unit, or do you use your smart phone gps? Did you search google or how did you find the info? While searching, did you happen to find POI files for the Ford Navigation or 'smart phones'? Thanks for the update!

Monte, I have a 365BHS 2011 model and like mentioned above as long as you are staying on truck routes you are good to go as most bridges are over our height limit. Although you may run into a bridge along a route or two in most cases there is a truck route to get you around that. It's a tough choice but would recommend going with your gut over just the height issue which it seems you have done already. Good luck with your purchase.

I support 140 offices in Texas and they are usually in little towns. So I get to drive some really small roads and that is where I have seen the low passes. I use the trailer as my hotel on wheels and we also use it to vacation. Sometimes the 2 run together. Oh well, the BHLT will work just fine. Who knows I might talk my brother into getting the 365, he really liked it too. He would just use it for pleasure not business.

Well I knew it was too good to be true. Jerry's updated the price on the web to 32,999. Oh well.

I have a 2011 365bhs, I came accross a 13'6" overpass while being detoured from my route. Had plenty of room, remember that the measurement is from the lowest point on the road they can find. It was till enough for me to purchase a truck GPS We use a DEZL560 LMT the best money ever spent. you input all your sizes and it will route you around any hazards.
