50 amp cord reel on 2016 pinnacle

Anyone have any issues with the electric 50 amp cable reel? It seems to work slow and sounds like it really straining when retracting, almost have to help it so it doesn't bind up. It does coil it back up on the reel, just seems to work hard,is it normal?

Haven't had any problems so far,I'm thinking it goes as slow as it does so,#1 you can keep up with the correct winding pattern,#2 you have time to wipe it down as it is retrieving?

Mine has been doing weird things since new. Sometimes will rewind great and other times u need to feed in the cord. Currently at dealer awaiting new brakes and a rewind switch. Had to tie wrap power cord to latter would not rewind and dealer said it is the switch

I installed a manual reel and think it's great. Looked at a power reel but the extra $$$ convinced me I wanted a manual instead. I hope your dealers can get yours sorted out. It didn't take too many trips to convince me that wrestling the 50A cord was not for me.

It is hard just rolling up my spare from home to take in case I need more. I ran a 50 amp service to front of house and stopped at front door. TT cord would reach it but not my Pinnacle so I have to use my spare

Anybody know where that reel terminates at? Is there a junction box there in the belly or does it terminate near the breaker panel? I want to add an on board surge protector and there's definitely no room where the reel is.

. I did not want to take the chance of wiring in mine being that it is under warranty. I purchased the plug in protector and ran the heaviest cable thru the metal eye for anti theft. In line would be the way to go but I would want to be able to see the digital read outs before even flipping on the main breakers. I would call Jayco and let us know what they say

I added both a reel and an EMS. My cord comes completely out of the reel so there's no problem there but I did wonder about the connection between the twist-lock connector and the power panel. My line of thought suggests that the run would be direct so I installed the EMS behind the panel.

50 amp cord reel on 2016 Pinnacle

The reel operates on your 12V system. Check your static voltage on your battery, should be 13.5 volts - then check your voltage drop while the reel is being operated. Battery voltage drop should not be more than 2 volts.

Warranty Issue.
