5th Wheel Hitch Jaws not fully locking around pin

Lately I have had trouble getting the jaws on my Reese 16k Slider hitch to full lock in around the pin on my Jayco Pinnacle 35LKTS. The Pin is a MorRyde. Anyone else have this problem or any one have suggestions on how to get it locking in right? When loading I am lowering the front so that the trailer plate is just below the hitch plate.

Have you tried lubricating the hitch as per the instructions in the owners manual??

I bought the unit used 2 months ago and do not have a manual. I used a spray lube to lubricate the jaws. Will see if that works.

It always concerned me that the hitch was locked and in place. One thing I always do is pull forward a couple times with the trailer brakes full on to put pressure on the locking jaws. I also back up a couple times to put pressure full on the back of the jaws as well. This all with the front pads only a couple inches off the ground in case she unlocks. A good coat of lubricant in all the right places is a must as well. The link to the owner's manual is really important. There are lots of things to check on the 5th wheel hitching process and the manual is a must until you get familiar with your hitch.

Thank you all for you help. I called Reese and they were very helpful and send me a manual for the hitch and the slider. They also gave me useful tips on hitching, unhitching and checking to ensure the hitch is fully locked. The also told me the proper lubrication points.
