Amperage Needed

We will be in a Jayco 351 RLTS in a few months and were wondering if we will need 50 amp hookups or if we can manage on 30. We do have a second a/c. Will 30amp work if we only use one a/c at a time/

Please educate us on this.

Hi newleaf ...... We get a thirty most of the time. We also heat water with elect. and use the electric for the refrigerator. We have never had a problem popping the 30 amp circuit. Well if the temps get too hot you will want the 50 amps with two A/C units.

Welcome to the forum. I have a Eagle 330 RLTS TT and my Rv has a 50 amp service. What I've found is that on a 50 amp plug I can run both A/C's along with anything else, in moderation, with the service plugged up to a 30 amp only my living area A/c works. Everything else works on 30amp except my bedroom A/c. I live in the south so you really need both A/c's in the summer. Even on 50 amp, on my last time outing I tripped a breaker twice but I did not get the sometimes aggrivating dimming lights.

I got 50 mp service, so far no problem running both ac's and water heater on electric. I only have 30amp. connection at home, I cannot run both ac's at the same time and the water heater on electric with one ac running.

I need to make a correction. I changed out my thermostats to digital today and while playing with them I discovered that both of my A/c's will run of a 30 amp service. I have a 50 service on my Rv but I run my Rv on a 30 amp service at home and both a/c's worked even though the breaker tripped after about 10 minutes. That's the thing about camping everyday you discover something new.
