Andersen's New Funnel Coupler

FYI for anyone considering getting this option. I ordered a new Andersen Ultimate V2 hitch and decided on getting the new Funnel Coupler too. Well the coupler arrived yesterday. When I opened the box, I was surprised to see a new Ball. After checking the factory (original) ball vers the new one, they are the same height. But the holes in the new ball are Lower. Placing the ball into the hitch, I found it to be 1/2" Taller. I'm guessing this is to clear the Funnel part.
So just an FYI to anyone looking to order this new kit. It will put your 5'er another 1/2" nose-high. Now I'm not sure I want to use it. I know I'll probably be nose-high already, so I don't want to add any more. But now it's going to cost me $20 to ship it back, for a $55 part.

I'll wait until I get my new 29.5 (This Friday) and see. Otherwise I may just post this for sale.

Dave...

How does the funnel attach to the pin box?

It looks like it slips on and has arms on the sides. They have holes for the bolts to slide through. Pretty simple design, I just didn't know it would raise the camper another 1/2"

Here's a few more pic's showing the difference between the ball mounts and funnel bracket.

Notice the 3 holes line-up but the difference in ball height at the top

I spoke with Andersen on this. If you need the lowest setting you need the taller ball so that the funnel will clear the top of the hitch. If you use the middle or top setting the standard ball will be fine . They said you can use the standard ball even in the bottom setting but it will mark the top of the hitch.

No problem, thanks for the additional info as well. I know it might help someone else on deciding to use the new funnel or not.

Does the cable have to be removed in order to execute the installation?

A lot of folks are, myself included. Mine is a 2014 Ram SB CC. No clearance issues with my setup, and can turn very tight. Each setup is different, and you'll need to fine tune for your particular truck/5th wheel combo.
