Atwood water heater door

Tell me if I'm being a bit OCD or if this is something I should address. My water heater door on the rear of my unit doesn't sit flush. It won't sit flush due to the door contacting the part circled in the photo.

Being it's located on the back, I'm not worried about wind catching it while underway. Just thinking of critters getting in there. Rain, I'm not too worried about as it's a wet area anyway. Thoughts? I considered a some weather stripping or a bead of silicone on one side.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, that's the flue box. My door doesn't sit flush either. Not sure I'd use rubber in that area. I think the only critters getting in there would be spiders or maybe bees. Just check it yearly. When you're active with the camper, you won't have critters building nests in there. Could maybe use magnets to hold it shut.

Thanks for the reply. Based on what you said, I won't worry about it. My suburban heater on my previous model sat flush so I noticed this being different. Sounds like no big deal though. Thanks.

Ditto what TWP723 said. Mine does not sit flush either. Last year I battled spiders making a nests in the burner tube. In the Spring/Early summer, I had to inspect the tube before each camp out. Even if the door sat flush, I'm not sure you could keep the spiders out. They are really tiny when young.
