Our 'flat pitched' awning basically SUCKS! It is nice to put it out in seconds, but, with no pitch it doesn't shade from sun well. We did add one of those shades you can slide into the slot at the end of the awning and that helps a lot. These flat pitch awnings are *very* sensitive to even a milder breeze. We have seen a slight gust of wind come through and flip the rear part of the awning up over the roof on another poor fellows tt They were lucky as they were able to pull it back down and it seemed to still work ok.

The flat pitched awning on the newer Jayco's do have the dump feature. It works on ours. One thing that is nice to know is that Camping World will add the dump feature to your electric flat pitch awning if your Carefree didn't come with it (you'd have to check to see if they still provide this free).
