Awning LED strip

Has anyone had trouble with the plastic strips that hold the LED lights that are located along the underside of the awnings. Both my light strips have twisted with the summer heat, they look like a spiral noodle. Phoned Jayco passed the buck to Dometic, even it these strips are replaced with the same material the result will be the same

Yes I had the same issue on my 2014 Keystone Cougar. They did the same thing 2 mths after I bought it new. They replaced them under warranty, now they are starting to do it again.

Hoojs, whas your awning black as well? I wonder if the color contributes to the heat.

Outsides black, the underneath portion is white. Both times it started the awning was rolled up and it was hot out.

Had the same problem our 2016 Pinnacle. I stripped off the original tape carefully with a razor blade and put on new 3M tape and mounted the strip to the sidewall just under the edge of the awning track. So far it has stayed up just fine and it has been in the hot sun quite a bit. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I had to have the led lights replaced on my trailer due to water entering the light strip. When they did, the tech removed the strip the lights were mounted
in (the one thats giving you problems) and attached the lights in the channel the strip slide into. He said Jayco had a lot of warranty claims on the lights failing and Jayco felt it was the fault of the removable channel.

Same thing happened to my 2014 31.5RLTS. Dealer replaced it. Dometic told them it was do to heat and they have changed the material they use and it wouldn't happen again. Second one has now started to do it.

This is what Dometic told me, is that they have a new fix of a improved plastic strip, which is complete BS, mine curled so much it pulled the wires off the LED strip had to re-solder them back in place for the strips to be functional, will be replaced under warranty and as guessed, on your own hook when warranty expires.

I'm having the same issue on a 1.5 year old Eagle. I do live in central Texas, but we have had a reasonably mild summer for us, and my trailer stays under a three sided overhang all season. No sun hits the trailer unless we are camping. I'm having a hard time believing it's the heat issue. It twisted mine so hard it broke the led strip and half of the lights quit working. Taking it in for repair soon.

Have not had any problems, and we've had several weeks of 95-98 degree heat. But my Jay Flight has aluminum siding. Don't know if that makes any difference.

Are all those who've had problems have fiberglass sides?

We have a 2014 Eagle 5th wheel and it has set under the extremely hot Georgia sun the past two years. Have not had any problems with the led strips. Just put up a shed so hopefully we want have any problems.

you can use More sticky double-sided adhesive tape, and i think VHB tape is better than 200lse tape , for those 5050 sk9822 led strip ,use ip68 silicone tube with Glue is better than IP65 silicone glue
