Awning Struts

Good Day everyone. I need to find a good LUBRICANT for the Awning.
When I move the electric awning in is seems to hope or bind. I have tried to stray a silicon lubricant on it. It work for a short while but I would like to know what I should be using on it??

Most people spray the slide mechanism with spray Silicone. I use Triflow, and then wipe it down. It is a waxy Teflon coating, IMHO it works the best, but it is very expensive. I clean and apply once a year. I never apply anything to the struts themselves.

Maybe that is my problem. I have sprayed the Struts. I guess I need to try and clean them.
