Axles on NP and Eagle - Why LCI and not Dexter
Ok, maybe I didn't get the memo. When did they start using LCI axles on the North Point and Eagle? Did they always? Heck even the Jay Flight has Dexters under them, which is far better in my opinion.
We're still in the shopping stage of a new full time fifth wheel, and that was one of the first things I noticed when crawling under them. Both 2016's I looked at had Lippert axles. Not too happy with that, said a few choice words under the rigs, but it is what it is. I'm not past ditching a set of brand new axles to put what I want on one. It wouldn't be LCI.

I agree Dexter is the trailer axle of choice. I was looking at the 2016 Seismic 355 toy hauler and thought it came with Dexter axles... I'm curios now as well.

Amazing they put a Dexter on the mid line models like Jay Flight, and cheap out on the high end. I don't understand that one.

My 2015 Eagle Premier has Dexter Axles.
So they must have made the switch to LCI Axles on the 2016 model change.
Why they made the switch? Your guess is as good as mine.

Thanks for confirming that ROC. I might make a call or two and see what's up with that.

Money. It's always money.
And IIRC, Lippert bought Leland a couple years ago, who supplies frames for Jayco.

Jayco sure has a strong relationship with Lippert.
Look at all the Lippert products that Jayco includes in their trailers, from frames, to windows, to furniture, mattresses, steps, leveling systems, etc. etc.
Not saying this is a bad thing. Previous trailers (SOB) also used a lot of Lippert products and I've always had good luck with Lippert and their customer service.

On the Lippert theme, here is a thread about Lippert acquiring portions of Dexter chassis a few years back.

Went and looked at a few North Points and Eagles today. I think it was the NP, but dern, a Lippert mattress? Man oh man. Guess if I want to stay in the game, I'll have to just suck it up and get a majority Lippert component rig eventually, or add a LOT of mods to my usual list.
I'm ok with some lippert stuff, but for pete's sake, or my sake, hire some certified welders please, or at least some that are beyond that highschool welding thing. Oh wait, those Ag kids do a better job. Hadn't seen a decent weld yet on a lippert frame.

Lippert owns a piece of just about everything on most Rv's.

Unfortunate but I've watched them acquire more and more, especially over the last few years. Good for their business I guess, but I don't care for a monopoly either. I've always been one to prefer the small outfits, or mom and pop type businesses. That seems to be going away.
