Bedroom a/c question

My main a/c is the outside ducted so very quiet. Running just the bedroom a/c it also is ducted but of course louder since the inside half is above the bed. My two vent slides on the bedroom unit when open both have a plastic piece that is behind both vents restricting air flow. Is it designed this way to direct more air to the ducted vents or did someone forget to remove them. My old TT a/c vents had nothing reducing flow and really blasted the air out and it was also ducted thru the unit.

Mine seems to have the plastic pieces. On one side it vibrated very badly once we had driven it 3 hours heading home. I pushed it very hard and it "clicked" and moved up some. No more noise, and I can dump more cold air in the BR if the 5th has been closed up and it is hot. Hope my fix didn't break anything, but seems good a couple of week out...
