bedroom slide not working

Just ran into difficulty this morning loading up for a camping trip. Got ready to hook up and the bedroom slide would not work. This is on a 2014 Eagle 33.5 RETS. The motor is located under a panel under the left side of the bed. The bed has to be lifted up to get to it. Then a few screws removed and the panel will slide out of the way. Anyone had any experience with this? I'm sure the shear pin has done its job but it looks like the motor has to be pulled and then the gear casing taken apart. Anyone offer any help. Going to include a picture. It is a venture motor and gearbox.

bedroom slide shear pin broken

Venture motor and gear box on 33.5RETS Eagle. Seems shear pin is broken. has anyone dealt with this? How do you go about replacing it. Motor is underneath gear box and is working. motor is driving straight shaft but shaft at 90 degrees is not turning. I'm thinking shear pin has broken in this gear box. Any suggestions?

I have been told today by Venture there are nylon gears in the gear box to act as a first defense for the motor. Got a service tech on his way to the house now to see if we can get this thing apart. Does not look like an easy fix, under the bed. This bedroom slide slides across the rug so not sure how much of a drag that causes, but I bet it is quite a bit. Our slides get operated a lot so I was quoted a price of $55 for a new gear box. Much better than buying the gears to replace.

I had a Happijac br slide in my last rig and changing the nylon gears was a piece of cake. They even sent me the gear and it took about 15 minutes once you knew what to take apart to get to it. It was just a few small screws to open the side of the gear box and the old gear popped out and the new one popped in.gear

Hope it is a easy fix and you can get a spare for the next time. Usually that will assure no next time.

Norty, it was not a simple fix and it was not any nylon gears in the gear box. Hard for me to explain but the motor and gear box were working fine. It was the next inline section that went 90 degrees to the motor. That was not turning. The motor and gear box and everything had to be removed and it was a PIA! The actual drive gear that pulls the bed in and out was too large to come out through the access hole. So, you had to be a contortionist to get an allen wrench underneath the frame work to losen the set screw and finally get the gear off so you could pull everything out. Then the motor and gear box had to be removed to take the other reduction gear I guess you could call it, apart. It had a shear pin inside that had sheared off. We had a shear pin that fit so we put that in and put everything back together. It was a bear getting the final gear back in place and lined up with the drive mechanism. All this, while bent over on your knees under the bed. We ran it 3 or 4 times and it was working good. We will load back up this morning and head out again. Hope it lasts for awhile.

Hey Joe, always click the "remember me" box when you log in and it shouldn't kick you off. Glad you got your slide room fixed.

Another tip: If you type in the 'Quick Reply' box and change screens, your text will be erased. I've lost MANY responses that way.
