Black Tank Troubles

Having a terrible time with the black tank. Toilet dumps into corner of tank and the solids pile up there and clog the pipe to the toilet. Dealer says "Use more water", I'm currently putting 10 gal of water in tank after dumping and flushing repeatedly. Give it a couple of days and it's clogged up again.

We're using the genuine RV toilet paper and flushing with what I think is a generous amount of water and the problem persists. This is my 5th RV and the 4th 5th wheel and I have never had this problem which makes me think it's not me. I've always put water in the black tank prior to use in my previous RV's but never this much.

Filling the black tank with water before leaving on a trip kind of defeats the purpose of having a black tank.

Is anyone else having this problem with North Point 5th wheels?

Have you looked underneath the trailer to see if there is an issue with how the Black tank is mounted?

Haven't been under it as it is covered but I have accessed it from the storage compartment and it looks level. I'm wondering if they could have stuck the pipe from the toilet down into the tank a few inches. Dealer was a big help, he says to use more water!

Throw a 5 gallon bucket of hot water down the toilet with an empty tank. Have someone outside look through a clear elbow to see what's coming out. This usually gets the "pyramids" out.

Also if there is a block that water will not flow correctly confirming your theory of blockage. If the water does not flow out of the drain hose either you could have a partially open valve leading to the flow issue.

Actually, been there and done that!. What typically happens is we notice standing water (or whatever) in the pipe below the toilet when flushing. Then I take a piece of Pex pipe and stick down in there and poke it around a little, that usually will make the toilet drain. Then I dump the holding tank and pour 10 gallons of water down the toilet (I've used hot water). Then I hook up the tank flush and let it run for a while. Then I close the dump valve and put another 10 gallons of water down the toilet add some chemical and we are ready to go again. It's a process and it gets old pretty fast.

I've seen several tanks (meaning grey and black) that have this issue. I've seen alot of times that the blockage is the round disk from where they have cut to place the plumbing and just let it fall in the tank. One of my neighbors just had this issue with his new RV about 2 months ago.

Get (or rent one) a flexible camera and look inside the tank. And when you find the problem fix it accordingly. It can be anything; construction materials or ?????
