Brand New RVer - Pinnacle purchase pending.

Hey everyone,
I've been lurking and doing a lot of research, visiting lots of dealers, etc. My wife and I have finally settled on a 2017 Jayco Pinnacle 36 KPTS. We are going to likely purchase the unit in a couple of days. We can not wait! We have 3 very small dogs, no children. We are 33/34 yrs old.....ready to explore.

I'm completely illiterate when it comes to RVing, but I'm doing my diligence on researching, etc! I do admit emptying the black water tank without screwing up makes me nervous.

Any tips for new RVers? I've searched for some checklists of absolute mandatory purchases (sewer hoses, etc.).

Anyone have any recommendations about equipment addons that I should get put on at the dealer?

I'm excited to join the Jayco family. From what I've checked out on dealer lots, Jayco looks to be overall excellent quality.

Wow congrats and welcome to JOF. Dumping to black water is no problem, dump the black water first and the grey water after but they will go over with you at the time of pick up.

It's a piece of cake so don't over thinking it and as far as the items you will need the dealer gave us some of the major stuff to go camping but as you learn you will need more.

When you make a turn swing wide.
A 5er will turn the corner sharper than the TV.

I've only been involved with RV's since August of 2015. Not even 2 years. This is a great forum to gain knowledge. I continue to learn everytime I come to this forum.
As a relatively new RV'r myself, first and foremost, I would recommend learning the ins and outs of all the systems in the trailer. This includes electrical, plumbing, HVAC, etc..
The internet is a great source of information. Forums like this are unbelievably helpful. Also, Youtube has hours and hours of very helpful videos on regular maintenance, as well as troubleshooting and learning all the aforementioned systems. An educated owner will definitely feel less frustration and anxiety. Congrats! The Pinnacle is an awesome rig!

oh... I forget to mention that my rig is parked at a seasonal site so I don't even tow. Weights, balances and towing is a science all unto itself! The folks here are experts in this area!

Congrats on the new Pinnacle drjcw24 and welcome to JOF. We are picking up our Pinnacle KPTS Monday. Been at the dealer since April 1st. having some extras installed. Not in a big hurry since we are in the process of selling the house. Can't wait to get on the road though. Happy Camping!

Congrats on the new Pinnacle, that's exactly how we started 2.5 years agò. We still learn something new everyday. Before you buy on Friday, you should be aware 2018s are building in two weeks. Not to talk you out of the 2017 but hopefully to give you bargaining power on the price. We love our Pinnacle and are anxiously awaiting our new one next month.

Good luck and these forums are the absolute best tool for a new RV'er.

Yes thanks to reading these and other forums, I realized that 30% off is a reasonable discount and that's what I scored with a nice 5th wheel hitch install included.
