bump out problems!

My 2010 Eagle superlite "living area" bump out has 'stuck" on me numerous times. Both in the open and closed positions. The first time I took it in for repair last fall the RV service center guys said the screw or thread had not been greased at the factory. The second time, this spring, they put in a new motor. Now, it is back in the shop and Jayco is sending them another part that supposedly will fix the problem. The unit is still under warranty but that will end soon and I am concerned about the company and service center's inability to get a handle on this problem. I say a "hail Mary" now before I open or close that bump out! Anyone else have this particular concern with their rig?

I've heard them called "slide outs" and "tip outs", but "bump outs" is a new one for my RV vocabulary. I learn something new every day. No matter what it's known by, Dennis1941, we'll eventually figure it out. I hope that you get the problem resolved to your satisfaction. Unfortunately, sometimes it takes a few tries.

Welcome to the Jayco Owners Forum Dennis! I had a recurring issue with squeeling brakes. The service techs couldn't resolve it. I called Jayco direct, was put in touch with Dexter, and they authorized a local brake shop to deal with my brake issue. It is now fixed! Try to get a local expert to do your work before your warranty expires. Let us know how it goes. Good Luck!

o.K. let's call it a slide out instead of a bump out. My reason for posting was to see if others had experienced similar problems. The service people at "my" RV dealership indicate that this is a strange and mysterious problem - never experienced before in the history of the dealership - and I am trying to get a more non-biased feed back from fellow owners. thanks.

I had a similar issue with my last trailer, a Holiday Rambler Savoy. The solution for me was to lube the bars under the slideout with dry lube meant for that purpose found at Walmart RV section. Before I did this I would have to start the slideout with the hand crank to get it going. The dry lube ended the issue. I believe it was a Camco product, but not positive.

thanks dzwiss. You might want ot be aware that the new models do not come with the hand crank option. When I raised that same obvious solution, the service guys said jayco stopped adding that crank feature because a "sticking" slide out was a thing of the past. If you encounter a slide out problem on a newer unit you will need to crawl under the unit, remove a cover/panel (about 8 screws) to expose the motor and then apply a wrench. The RV service guys applied lube on my first attempt to get this problem corrected. A new motor was installed on my second go-round, and I am not sure what they are trying this time.
