Color scheme is a bad idea

My 2014 40' Eagle Premier paint is really looking bad. Why would a manufacture chose a dark color scheme for the top of a RV. Unfortunately I cannot store this unit in a covered area due to it's size and availability.
I don't know how to fix this. The discoloration seems to be under the clearcoat.

2014 should still be under warranty. That is part of the reason we are trading in our 2013. The front cap started fading the first year. Looked like oxidation.

Lots of that getting talked about on the JOF. The good news is Jayco really seems to be stepping up on this problem. I think they've even painted a couple of units that were just out of warranty.
I'd suggest a visit to your (or a) dealer to get the ball rolling. I think other manufacturers are having the same problem. I'm guessing the dark color schemes were seen as an indication of a "high-end" product. The fiberglass gelcoat isn't holding up and the solution is sanding the gel off and painting with a uv resistant paint.

My 2013 was 4 months out of warranty and Jayco had the front repainted at no cost to me. I would go to your dealer and have them submit the request to Jayco.

We just had our 2013 front cap repainted and replaced the decals. Jayco covered it 100%, no problem. This is a known problem with the 2013 and 2014 units.

Looks like Jayco will re-paint the front cap now I have to come up with $700-$1000 to have it towed to and from the dealer. No cost to me is BS.

I would contact Jayco and ask them where in your area you can get it done! Last winter in FL. A guy came into the campground and did work for someone, and on his way out saw my 2013 With a faded top on the front cap, and knocked on my door and said Jayco would warranty repainting it, and gave me his card and said call him if I wanted it done!
I already had it set up with my dealer here in Maine, so I did not contact him, but he thought he would get Approval I am sure..

Why can't you tow it yourself? How far is your dealer?

Unfortunately I,m one of those guys that towed for 30+ years then decided to go with the "Storage and pay to place" movement which is cheaper that buying a new truck and diesel. The dealer is 150 miles from the dealer. There are local RV shops that could do the work but Jayco wants us to take it back to the dealer. What a rip.

Our friends have an Outback that had the some issue with the paint. They complained enough to the dealer and to Outback and they finally recalled a large number of trailers for bad paint. Not sure about Jayco's but there was a bad lot of brown paint out there.

Ok, That explains the issue. Thanks for responding.

I knew there had to be something out of the ordinary.

I guess those of us with local dealers are lucky in times like this. Hope you get it all sorted out.

Jayco told us we could take ours to any dealer we chose too. We had stopped in little rock ar to look at some of the premium painted pinnacle they had and they offered to pait ours there. So maybe you should ask a closer dealer if there is one.
