Day/night shades....help!

Okay....I feel like the dumbest person on the face of the earth!!!!I'm new to RVing. We're moving into our 5er full time, this weekend. We have the day/night shades. Maybe it's my blonde hair color or I'm having a major senior moment but how the heck do these things work???
Thanks!!

Don't feel blond, here's the story of gray. When I purchased my first camper (24' HiLo, donated to a church and then resold to me) it came with no history, maintenance, records, docs, anything. And I had no knowledge of campers.

The shades were closed (in the full privacy position) and I didn't know they did what they do. Several months after cursing the darkness I nearly cut them out. Many more months later I accidentally discovered they raised to the mid position. Of course then I was quite happy I hadn't removed them. BUT, many/many months later I discovered a third position ... completely open.

My bride was just as surprised by all this - as I was.

Oh good, it wasn't just me!! These type of blinds are totally new to me. I was looking for pull cords and when I couldn't find them, I got confused. They are pretty cool!
