Did as you advised. I needed to enlarge the 2 in. hole using a roto-zip but pulled all the the wires down in view. Thanks

I want it in a protected area - in my storage compartment I would need to build a box around it to prevent damage. I also read that the closer the hydraulic unit is to the axles the faster the braking response will be and I've seen other articles suggesting response time could be an issue. As for wiring, you're right. The blue/white brake wires from the tow vehicle connection are readily available at the axles of course and power (I hope) won't be a big problem. It turns out that the wiring for the breakaway switch will be a challenge.

The hydro motor will need higher amps than the brake wiring. So you will need to run heavy gauge wire from the batteries to the feed the motor. The longer the run from the batteries, the larger the gauge wiring. They normally mount the unit near the batteries for that reason.

Requires 25 amps or 40 amps if in subzero weather. 10 ga. wire is recommended. For me, improved response time and not running 20+ feet of brake line (which requires removing 20 ft. more underbelly) wins out. Pros & cons for everything I guess

Wow, I was expecting a lot more amp draw. I'd run 8 gauge wire myself but I don't like voltage drop. Lol

Oh ya. They're there. Stick your finger in and pull them out.

Looks like your rig has backup lights? Was that an option? I would have like to have access to the yellow wire in the trailer. When I figure out how to get the breakaway switch wire into the trailer I'll drag a yellow wire also in case I want to add some bu lights. Thx

Did you add the BU lights and if so did you add the wiring from the hitch thru the trailer?

I did not, Klassic did. If you look at his reverse light mod thread, he shows how he ran the wiring.

Thanks for the link to the backup light mod - that's the way to do it.

I'm continuing to post my progress (or lack thereof) on the MOD Forum: http://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/f3...tml#post502633 I've removed some of the rear underbelly in prep for the brake lines and wiring. I've decided to get the Shoreline Power Cord Reel installed so that I can open up the trailer to help with running the breakaway switch wiring.
