Klassic look at TrailAir pin. They are pricey, but really ride good.

I didn't know the pinnacle was 8.6. I'm 8 on the button.

Is your truck a short bed?

This is one thing that I question, why is everyone obsessed with getting the truck and trailer 90*, most of these axles on the campers are at thier limits and the added stress of a 90* turn will only help bend the axles. I look at it like this; you can't 90* a tow behind, and I never put myself in a position where I needed to go 90*. Why would I or anyone else need to go 90* with a 5th wheel?

I've had to go dang close if not 90 one time, I'll do my best not to again. But I have an 8 ft bed, so this conversation doesn't really include me

It can be handy to use the tight turn capability, such as in a tight campground or gas station.

But...if you pick your places carefully you will not need it. Just look at all the long travel trailers out there.

So how the hell does not shift the weight back?

Is your FW eight foot or 8.6 like the Pinnacle?
Rock: I called Anderson about the same issue of shifting the load behind the rear axle. They said it typically takes about 200lb off the front axle. Using a 9" offset on the Anderson (assuming the turnover ball is directly over the rear wheels?), 153" distance between the front and back wheels and a 2700lb pin weight I come up with about 158 lb lift on the front wheels. Have to think about how this relates to shifting weight behind the wheels? I that where the 158 lb goes?

I don't like the sounds of that.
Typically I add 200lbs to the front axel with my hitch now.
I don't want to take anymore off the front.
It will start feeling light.

My TV is a diesel which adds about 600lbs to the front so I'm not worried about removing 200lbs.

Wow, I'm glad to find out now because when I do get a 5th Wheel I will know what to get.

Define short bed as I hear some people refer to a short as the 5', a standard at 6.5' and a long at 8'.

What was the distance from the center of your pin on the 5th to the cab?

Edit: I'm behind a couple pages. Sorry.

That's a bummer in reference to Klassic's mishap. I would never have thought to use the slider at a fuel stop either. I know I've been getting more comfortable not using my slider over the past few months. Makes me think I should go ahead and engage it as a precaution before I enter a campground. I find usually when I think I'm getting good at something, I get humbled.

To the original poster...in a short bed situation I'd say a slider is cheap insurance(if used).

Hit the nail on the head.
I would have never used the slider at a gas station. Would have just paid attention....didn't. Humbled.
Backing into sites (unless I see I'm almost straight on) I use the slider for insurance. I didn't on that trip, I forgot. AND I wasn't paying attention. I should have been humbled. I actually did cut fairy sharp to get in.

I need to smack myself on the back of the head...PAY ATTENTION!

My rig is at the paint shop right now..$200.
No one can believe nothing happened to the truck. I was lucky in that regard.

That is true but they do exist on half ton trucks, so by that comment I assume you have a 6.5' bed

Best of luck to you Big. I've been shopping around for maybe 18 months and have changed my mind many times on the TV, the fifth wheel and the hitch. Changing one often affects another decision.

Slider

I have a Pullrite Superglide auto slider for my 5er. It works great with my short bed and allows me to carry kayaks overhead on truck via Yakima rack. I have never had a problem with clearance. Hitch automatically slides aft about 12-14" to avoid hitting truck, window, or ? Its pricey but works.
