Dull front cap

The front cap on my 08 Designer is getting really dull. I can get some of the shine back using an orbital buffer and a good wax but it's getting where I can't keep up with it. I am considering having it painted and clearcoated. Has anyone had this done to their unit. I've also heard of a product called poliglow that sounds promising..Has anyone used it and if so how well did it work.

Thanks

Tommy

My parents had to have the front cap painted on a pickup camper once. It got dull and when it rained it left a white residue on the hood of the truck. I believe they just had it cleaned up and clear coated.

I have a 2004 Legacy. The graphics are painted. The front and rear caps fade quickly and are a pain to maintain. When I had the unit in for paint repairs on the front cap at the factory I asked if they would clear coat both the front & rear caps and that I would pay the difference. They came back and said the paint shop would do it at no charge. Wow, good deal. After thinking about it, I called JAYCO to get the paint shop number. They contract paint out. Asked what they would charge to clear coat the sides. Told me the graphics would have to be masked and gel coat painted white because clear coat would not stick to gel coat. Best investment I ever made. Only use spray wax and the unit looks better than new. Biggest problem with painted graphics is caulking repair matching.

Hi Tommy. I heard of some folks on another forum that used Red Max floor polish from Lowes. They report good results, and make notice that a lot of the ingredients in Polyglow are also in the Red Max. I have purchased the Red Max and intend on "trying it out" on my front cap, which is dull like yours.

Try a product like Turtle Wax Rubbing Compound. DO NOT use a power buffer with this product..

Used the same product on my Eagle front Filon cap a few years ago and it did a decent job of cleaning it up. Found through the years that caps are tough to keep looking like new, especially the Filon ones.
