Eagle 351RLTS friday

We pick up our new Eagle on friday. Sure is exciting and hard work cleaning out and unloading a rig you have used and really loved for 7 years. We really love this floor plan, color and are looking forward to making the same memories with the Eagle.
I am sure there will be many questions coming soon. The first one is: Does anyone know the mfg of the converter that Jayco uses in the Eagle? It is 80a and thats all I know at this point. My current rig, soon to be gone, has a Progressive Dynamics that works great . I added the charge wizard before they came with them.

My Designer 35RLTS has the PD9280 (80 Amp).

They may be using the same one in your Eagle since the floor plans are the same.

That's great news. I am sure the CW is built in to it.

Made it home and the cw is built into the converter. Thanks. We are in the learning mode and I already have a list of mods.

First one is to see about reversing the hinge in the bedroom where the TV is slated to allow the door to open to allow access for storage. Have no plans to add a television in that area. Has anyone done this? It looks like if I remove the gas strut, remove the door/hinge and re-install it on the other side, I can gain some more storage space.

Let me know if anyone has done this.

I would like easier access to that area in my Designer also, but I have a TV in the door so I need it to open the way it does in order to view it.

First problem

Well we have been loading it up and making it ours all week.

First problem we found is the fresh water guages do not work. I filled the tank till it overflowed out of the overfill drain and no guage indicator. DC pump works fine. We are headed out for a 2 week shake down cruise and hope the list is short when we return. Any one had this particular problem with a new rig?

Do you have an open underbelly? If so, crawl under there and check to make sure one of the sensor wires on the tank did not come lose and all the connections are tight.

No ready access. I will let the dealer look at it in 2 weeks. It is likely a simple fix.

I had a hard time tyring to figue the water valves. I didn't know you had to reposition the valves to use the 12v pump. I thought , just like the old camper, once you disconnect from city water you didn't have to do anything for the 12v water pump. Once I got hoem i fugered it out.

Me too! At first it was confusing. Now I just leave it on normal to use the pump on the road, then when I hook up at the cg, just turn the valves to city water.

Did I mention that change is hard for me? Another brain teaser was using the sprayer, Thought I had a problem, then it dawned on me that the switch on the hand sprayer was in the off position. DUH.

Tomorrow we pull it up the first big hill, Saluda grade in NC, I-26. Never had any problems with the old Sunnybrook. It will be interesting to see the difference in economy between the two rigs.

I am pulling the same RV with a 2003 F350 SRW CC Lariat 7.3 Diesel and I have no problem with hills. Hope your shake down trip goes without any issues.

Thanks, We are having a great shakedown cruise in the NC mountains. No problems pulling some steep grades or braking. Fuel economy is the same as the old rig.

I could live in this full time! Only problem so far is the fresh water gauge does not work.

Good Trip

Norty,
Having fun reading how your making out on your shakedown trip. Glad to hear the new 5th wheel is doing well. I'm sure your giving the AC's a work out even in the Mtns.
Kath and I are suppose to look at one next week at a dealer about 2 hours from the house. The dealer that was closer is not stocking any this year and doesn't want to bother ordering one either. So much for buying local, now I'm going for price.

I'm glad you are having a good shakedown norty1. I do full time in mine and it is the same floor plan as yours. I love it.

I notified them before we left. They said to give it a workout and bring it in when we get back and they will fix the list. This is one great thing about dealing with a dealer that is close to home.

If you want a good deal, check into leftover 2011's that are equipped as you want.
