Eagle 355MBQS

Kitty and I were at the dealership today and looked at the above unit. Kitty really likes it. My only reservation is the weight. I'm not sure my '07 Duramax 2500 will haul the weight. I know it will pull it OK.

Anyone got a 355MBQS, and if so, what are the pros and cons, etc? FYI, Our current unit is a '12 31.5 FBHS. The 355 is about 3000 lb heaver.

Hi Shorty,

We just got our 355MBQS back in April. I haven't towed it far yet, that will start tomorrow for vacation. Anyway, I have a 2016 Silverado 3500 SRW crew cab long bed. My payload is 3500 lbs, with me, the wife, 2 kids and other stuff I can tell you that I'm probably over my payload. I will hit a scale tomorrow but with it loaded for an 18 day vacation and since my wife takes everything including the kitchen sink, I'll bet I'm over by 100-200 lbs. That makes me think that your 07 2500 will be over payload by quite a bit.

I have also been looking at that model, but need a new TV to do it. We were looking at upgrading to a 3/4 ton anyway, but with the weights on that Jayco, a 1 ton will probably be in the cards. 18% of GVWR is 2565lbs, so I would agree that your 2500 will probably be over the payload.

That being said, you probably know how these types of conversations go on the forums so I won't get into that part. I did receive one pointer in another thread that I took to heart:
- if you have a 3/4 ton, you'll be over weight but it'll haul it - how you react to that info is up to you.
- if you're looking for a new TV, don't even consider the 3/4 tons.

Given that you have a 3/4 ton already, and depending on how far/much you'll be towing, perhaps some airbags, keep things as light as possible, and get working on getting the 1 ton

We are looking at the 355 MBQS also. I found this site today and it looks like the hitch weight dropped for 2018. Jayco Fifth Wheels - Eagle 355 MBQS - Indiana RV Connection 2018.

The dry weight has dropped also, and that site shows a King bed option. Is that correct?

Well, Kitty drug me to a Chevy dealership today. We looked at a 2017 Duramax 3500 dully 4X4 "High Country" package. That thing is tow ready to include the 5er hitch attaching points in the bed. Just 70k on the sticker. Dang, is there not end to this stuff! My Uncle Sam used to take me camping a lot. His tow vehicle was a duce and half, and my camper was half a tent. I had to have a "co-camper" to make a full tent.

Anyway, Kitty wants that new camper but, IF I can, I'm going to try to put her off and maybe the fever will subside.

I Have a 2016 LTZ Duramax. I bought it new last August for $52k plus tax n tags. Better than $70k, but still expensive

That's a sweet truck - i would love one of those. If my wife ever dragged me to a dealer and said "this one", no way I could walk away from that!
