Eagle HT 27.5 rlts with Mor/ryde vs Reese Revolution

Question - I would like the Mor/ryde over the Revolution, but have questions about the Mor/ryde and 6.75" beds.

I have a 2015 F250 with the 6.75 bed and a non-sliding hitch. Do I have enough room for turning etc... with this setup? I will be ordering the Eagle HT soon and need to know if I can get the Mor/ryde which is preferred. I was going to get the Reese because it puts the pivot point back further, but would rather have the comfortable ride with the Mor/ryde.

I will be staying mostly in FL state parks. I understand you can hit your truck with your camper if on a terrible, non-level surfaces. I won't be on terribly uneven terrain (no boon-dock camping) so just need some insight from people who hopefully have this setup.

Not looking for opinions - just people who actually have this setup with an F250/2500 with the shorter beds.

Thanks in advance!!

Of course you can do it but you will always have to be careful/aware of what your limits are. Just normal turning left/right should be no problem. My daughter busted out the window of my short bed trying to maneuver into a steep curved space in Yellowstone. And she was/is an experienced trailer puller.

We bought a B&W slider hitch for our Ram 2500, and we have yet to use it! The newer Eagle HT provides pretty good turning radius and cab clearance that we have not had a need to extend the slider.

However, if you are planning to use the slider feature, please test it and make sure that the pin box will clear your truck's tailgate when it slides back. Ours didn't and we would need to get an aftermarket V cut-out tailgate!

My insurance co spent ~$500 for me to find out I really could have used a slider. You can see the rig in my sig, it has the mor-rude pin box which is pretty smooth. Broke the rear window making a full lock U-turn. The hitch is a B&W Companion and mounts to the factory puck holes.

Never had the MorRyde, but the Revolution has allowed me to jack-knife more than 90 degrees with my 6.5 bed (not that I intended to!). And it allowed me to get a comparatively light hitch, so less bed weight, lower cost, and something I can actually get in and out of the truck if I need to. With the F150, I've had no issues with the ride and the HT trailer, so doubt you would either with an F250.

I have a pullrite superglide on my F250 with a 6 3/4 bed and has performed very well. Its a little pricey compared to others but not willing to break a window...Ive used it 4-5 times on my 2016 Eagle HT... Shop around

Cheers

I have the Revolution on my 5th. Love it.
  • Lighter than any slider hitch. This is/was a concern as it gave me a couple hundred more pounds of payload.
  • No pin box movement in the bed of the truck. I can stack stuff all around the hitch and pin box without worrying about the pin box needing to swing. Gives me use of more of the truck bed.
  • No worries EVER about hitting the truck cab to greater than 90 degrees. Will you ever need that much turn? Who knows, but you don't have to worry making a U-Turn in a small parking lot.
  • The Revolution can be moved to help line up when hitching if you must backup at an angle.
  • 5th Wheel tracks more like a bumper pull trailer. Less chance of curbing the trailer on a sharp turn.
  • Trailer still tows very good and stable, nothing like a bumper pull.
All this said, every few years, you are supposed to pull the unit apart to check for wear and lube as necessary. A small price to pay, I think.

I would have to agree with rsday75, I have the Reese and never a problem in a 6.75 ft box. Sliders can be nice but the ease of the Revolution can't be beat to me.

Eagle HT 27.5 rlts with Mor/ryde vs Reese Revolution

I have the 27.5RLTS 2017 with the Revolution- very satisfied. As mentioned earlier many advantages- especially forgiving when hooking up.

I have the MorRyde pin box on my Cougar and the same 6.75 bed as you. With a Reese 16K hitch, my cab and bed sides (back of MorRyde) were in danger at about 75 degrees. After grunting the Reese in and out for the 2015 season, I got the Andersen Ultimate hitch. I installed with the ball to the rear and the pin adapter reversed to shorten the pin box. Now I can turn 90 degrees on a level surface.
