Eagle HT 28.5RSTS Pin Weight
I have been looking at small 5er's and we like the floor plan of the Eagle HT 28.5RSTS. During my research I noticed a difference in pin weight between two 2016 models. One has a pin weight of 1785lbs and the other 1405 lbs.
I contacted Jayco and was impressed with the response time to answering and what their answers to my questions were. I thought it may be of interest to others so I am posting here.
Original question answer:
Thank you for your interest in Jayco.
This is due to an axle location change on that model.
The information you provided was taken from two different 2016 spec guides. In another words, we changed in mid-year.
If I can get the specific serial number from the dealer, then I could get you the weights of that actual Fifth Wheel.
Chances are, it’s the 1405 hitch weight…
Follow up Question:
Thank you for the information. If I am going with a 2017 model year, then the hitch weight would be 1405? Also, I know it depends on how and what is loaded in the RV but do you have any idea on what the max pin weight would be at the max weight of the camper?
Follow up Answer:
There are all sorts of variables.
We tested a 2017 with full cargo, full tanks and all options and the hitch weight was 1610.
Also tested, we put 300 lbs on the rear and it reduced the hitch weight by 200 lbs….
The variables are endless, but the differences were 1405 to 1610 loaded.
