Eagle HT 29.5/ Ram 2500

I just got my new truck Ram 2500 6.7 Diesel
6 speed 68rfe.
3.42 rear axle/ Anti spin.

Near future I'm looking to get the Jayco Eagle HT 29.5
Will I be good to go truck wise....?

Would not mind hear from people with similar set up and FW

Thanks for all replys

Mike, you can pull a house with that truck.
You have plenty of pulling power, and your ready for future heavier upgrades.
Good decision.

Your only potential for problem will be the bed height and if you can get the trailer leveled. From what I understand Rams are the tallest of the big 3.

Ram

I've got the RAM 2500 Cummins Diesel. I pull a 34' 27RLS with a fully loaded water tank (80 gallons), and a pickup bed full of stuff (generators, extra gas, etc etc) ....up 6-7% inclines like it's nothing.

X2. I'm slightly nose high, and IIRC the HT is about 2" lower than the Eagle.

I have a 3500 and a 34 ft Eagle. ( 30.5 RLS )

Same power train - you won't have any problem pulling it, in fact, your gonna have a whole lot of fun , likely passing other trucks on the road.

If your new Ram has the receiver holes in the bed that supports the hitch, you can also count on anotheR 2 inches of height.

I am nose high, but not had any problems towing in the past two seasons.

Congrats on a nice setup. Good choice!

Adding that I also have air bags on the rear of the 3500 just to level up the truck with the 1700lbs of tongue weight. Without them , the 5er would likely be level, but I would rather have the 5er nose high and the truck frame level with weight distributed forward to the ft wheels of the Ram

What's the payload capacity of your 2500 compared to the tongue weight?

You may want to consider bags on the rear

Make sure that you order the 16" wheel and tire option, as your trailer's nose will most likely be higher than the rear. The question, here, is how high?

Can the springs go lowers in the holes for him too?

I'm thinking That buys us another 2 inches up behind the axel, but won't translate to 2 inches down in the ft. May get an inch? (Pivot point is not in the center)

I've thought about doing this, and it's pretty simple to do, but never had a problem being nose high with my combination

My 2016 29.5 came from the factory with the axles already flipped down. So, my only option to level the rig is to add a sub frame. I'm planning on doing that next month.

I'm fixing to do a 5" or 6" sub frame also on my 2013 Eagle HT 26.5, and I wish it needed tires so I could get 16's to add a few inches there.

I also have a 2500 6.7 and getting a 29.5BHDS Sat. Praying I'm not too high. Read that some people put on a 2" blocks to help and wasn't harmful. But that's just reading.

Make sure your dealer does everything necessary to trim you out as far as it will go.

I bought my 3500 after the 5er, so I missed that opertunity.

I really have to say again, while I'm nose high, I have never felt like it caused a problem while towing it....so, give it a chance

We're contemplating swapping out our new Maxxis for LT tires. We are planning a 4,500 mile trip to Wisconsin in July and don't want to risk tires blowing out.

We have the same configuration, and after flipping the axles and maxed out our pin box settings, still we're about 5" nose high. We thought about doing that Tru-Track lift kit, but ended up deciding against it. We're going to go ahead and add a new sub frame, as well as replacing the suspension hardware with Dexter heavy duty (wet bolt) kit--while we're at it.

I have the exact set up. A '15 Ram 2500 4x4 Outdoorsman (sits 1 inch taller than standard truck from factory) crew cab CTD. Stock tires measure 33inches tall. I've swapped on 35s. 5er is a '16 Eagle HT 29.5BHDS. I was very concerned with heights as well but it's not so bad. I ordered my 5er with the 16 inch wheels and Maxxis tires which add about 1.5 inches in height. From the factory, the springs are already on top of the axle (I've seen other mention the dealer flipped them for them. They were lied to) but there is two holes on the spring hangers on the frame. It comes with them in the upper hole but should provide another 1.5 inches or so in height when swapped to the lower hole. With the hitch adjusted for about 6 inches of bed clearance, it does sit slightly nose high. I plan to change the mount holes soon and I suspect I should be pretty level. The truck only sags an inch or so with the 5er hooked up and it barely notices it when pulling.

Ding!

I've been reading the updates to this thread wondering why you guys care about the height of the RAM.... Thinking to myself, "Why don't you just get a hitch that matches the height you need to match the trailer tongue height."

Then I realized this is the 5th wheel section and I guess that would be a serious concern.

Funny that there seems to be many RAM 2500 / 29.5 combo's in here ;-)
I will find out how level I'm in just over 2 weeks!!!

I'll report back once I get my new 5'er hooked-up.
Here's my TV:
