Electrical Problem

I have just bought a Used 2010 365BHS. I love my unit. I just got it home from winter storage and I put the battery back on and I Plugged it into my 30AMP Plug on my house. I turn on the heat to work inside (cleaning) and everything worked great..... UNTIL the heat turned off and I noticed that the power was VERY LOW. So I checked the gauge and the battery read E (EMPTY). I thought when you are plugged into shore power you are running off that power? so I tried to bring in the awning and that didn't have enough power. The Micro and fridge are on and working. I plugged in my truck RUNNING of course and everything was bright and happy.

So my questions are: Do I need to have a battery plugged in use lights and slides? would it behoove me to get a second battery? When I installed my battery after the winter the battery read on the meter 3/4 full? Shouldn't the shore power charge my battery?

Help as OBVIOUSLY I am CLUELESS!!!

No, you are not clueless. Your questions are valid.

Your converter should be capable of charging your battery and operating the 12 volt items. You may or may not need a new battery. The first thing is to see what is happening with your converter. If you have a voltmeter, it is easy to see what the voltage in your 12 volt system is when plugged into shore power. If it's not at least 13 volts, there is some converter issue. Is your converter getting AC power? Any circuit breakers in the AC system that might need to be reset? Maybe your converter has reverse polarity fuses blown? Is your battery connected properly and are the terminals clean and snug? Often there is a fuse near the battery on the positive cable - is it blown?

I'm sure others will have ideas, too.

Your frig and micro run only on AC.
Pretty much everything else runs off DC. Even when you are plugged in, your AC is converted to DC to run lights, awning, etc. You may have a very weak battery or a bad connection somewhere. When you connected to the truck, you were then running off the truck battery, so all was good. Do you use a battery maintainer (float charger) during storage? If you have a mutitester, check your battery's voltage. About 12.6 is fully charged. Here's a link to a battery table:http://www.mmbalmainauto.com.au/PDF/..._batteries.pdf

ok so should the battery be charging off the shore power??? And how long should it take?

Yes the battery should be charging off shore power. How long depends on how much charging the battery needs and on the output of the converter. Generally it takes a couple of hours to 12 hours, depending. And while the battery is being charged, the converter should be able to provide all the DC power you need for lights and everything else.

What is the voltage at the battery terminals when you are connected to shore power? Is the battery fluid level where it should be?

Here's an important question. The 30 amp plug you plugged it into - it is an RV 120 volt 30 amp plug you plugged into - not an electric dryer 240 volt plug?

If you have no power when plugged in then no power is coming from the converter. Check the breaker for the converter, then the fuses coming from the converter to the battery. Since you have power from the TV that means that connection is fine.

Check the breaker at the converter and the fuse in the battery compartment
