Eternabond & Caulk
I have a 2005 Jaco Designer 5th wheel. Am considering using the Eternabond products to seal around the roof vents & the like. Anyone have ant tips or advice regarding the product, cleaning agents. Also, I need to caulk around some of the joints on the side of the RV. What kind/type of caulk should I use? Any other advice and tips would be appreciated. Thanks

I can't offer any hints on caulk, but as far as Eternabond goes I have used it several times and all I did was use some soap and warm water to clean the area and then applied Eternabond and that stuff is truly amazing. I don't know what you are caulking but I might use Eternabond instead as you can cut it in any shape you want.

Eternabond is a good product, but you do need to make sure the subsurface is good and clean as well as solid. Read and follow the directions precisely on the package and you should have no problem.

This guy over on RV.net knows his stuff on eternabond. Here is his album with many pics and descriptions. For caulking around things like compartment doors, clearance lights, windows etc. on the side of the trailer consider Proflex by Geocel. Its good stuff.
eternabond install

The link in my previous post is very detailed on Eternabond use, step by step. Just click on the individual pictures for captions.

I remember looking at the photos earlier but could not remember the thread author to get more of the cleaning comments. I do have the recommendations from Eternabond but know there are tricks to getting it done easily and correct.
Thanks

Make sure you clean all surfaces thoroughly - I used Acetone. Also very important to make sure that you apply pressure to activate the microbeads in the tape. Use a roller like one you'd use to roll out vinyl flooring, and apply a lot of pressure, I mean until you see the adhesive oozing slightly out from the edges.

I've good luck with Dicor self-leveling lap sealent. Good on EPDM rubber, fiberglass, wood, aluminum, steel or masonry. Can be painter. RV shops use it to caulk around vents, antennas

Dicor is the same stuff my RV guy recommended. He suggested I check it twice per year so I am due to do that in the spring.
