Extra Battery Cable?

I have a 2016 Jayco HT 27.5. In the battery compartment there is a positive battery cable that goes back through the wall with the rest of the wiring, but it is not attached to the battery. My dealer says that he doesn't know what it is for. Anyone have an idea why it's there and what it might be for?

Could be for optional 4 point leveling, rear electric stabilizer, or part of the solar prep. That's my guess.

I think he should find out what it is being a new unit.

The proper response should have been, "I don't know what it is for, but I will find out." I think some dealers don't have a clue about the new units they are getting in. It is not like a car dealer, where there mechanics go off for training on the new models. I guess they just learn as they go!

Found out what that extra battery cable is for: Part of the solar prep package that the unit came with.

Glad you found out. Did you call Jayco? You would think they would label the wire so if it is not needed you just put it aside, so it does not get hooked up accidently and cause an issue (accident) on the other end.

Do you have solar connectors on the roof as well? If so, where are they located (front, back, center, curb, street side)?

I did contact Jayco via email and they provided the answer. Yes, you would think that they could have put a label on the extra battery cable - how hard would that have been!! I have not explored the Solar Package yet so can't answer your question Cdash about where the external solar connectors are located on my unit.

It is my understanding that on the fifth wheels, they are supposed to have 2 connections: one up front by the overhang and a second set up on the roof. I'm just trying to get an idea of how long the wire run would be from the roof to the battery area. I would hope they took the shortest path possible....

If you get a chance to look at some point, I'd appreciate it.
