Extra shelving in Jayco Super Lite 26.5 rks

I suppose this could go for any of the Eagle super lites. While the cabinet over the sink is high, it doesn't have a shelf in it. Has anyone installed/purchased shelving in their unit? I will admit I'm not super handy, nor do I have a steady hand, so the less work the better.

I assume they left the shelf out to save weight, but I recently purchased a new tow vehicle, and what little weight I'd have in there is not going to be an issue.

Thanks.

Adding shelves is really a simple item. If you do not have wood working abilities then find some one who does. The issue you need to understand is the wiring behind the wall panel the shelf supports will be screwed to. If there a shelf above or below you are relatively safe. Use a stud finder that recognizes electrical wiring. All in all the hardest part is matching the stain to the other shelves.

My wife bought one of those adjustable wire shelves at Wally World and just placed it in the cabinet. She says it works for her because she can't reach any higher anyhow. Also, it doesn't interfere with the microwave plug on the lower right side of the cabinet. If you wanted to install a wood shelf I would suggest getting KV standards (which would make it adjustable) and mount them to both left and right sides of the cabinet. Then cut a 3/8" birch plywood shelf to fit, and apply a small wood nosing on the front edge. Some of the big box stores will even cut the shelf for you. I would not think you would need to stain the shelf, but that's just me

I made and installed free standing shelves in the pantry and the cabinet over the sink. I cut a couples of piece of laminate flooring and attached adjustable shelf tracking to it and then cut shelving to length. I then set the boards in with the tracking (with shelf support clips installed) inside the cabinet (one on the right one on the left). I then set the shelf on the clips (this made for a tolerance fit) and made the shelf self supporting. Just another way to do it.

tinman, do you have any pictures of what you did? I have the 26.5RLS and our pantry needs some work to make it a little more usable.

We have a 23.5 RBS and had to add shelving too. I just picked up some shelving that matched our cabinets at the local lumber yard. Had shelves in in less than an hour.

tinman72 - great idea. I love that there is no drilling into the camper walls itself. I've got plenty of laminate flooring around. Once the snow melts I'll have to get to work on this.

Great idea Tinman. Where did you find those adjustable shelf supports?
