I don't see 5th wheel prep package. I see trailering wiring provisions, but that's it.

5th wheel prep package

What TV are you looking at?

I just finished pricing a 1 ton dually and I was able to select the 5th wheel prep option

5th wheel prep package

You are right. May have to talk with the dealer.

I selected the Gooseneck Hitch Package (EZr Underbed Gooseneck Center) - Associated Accessories as I am going to purchase the Andersen ultimate 5th wheel hitch package

I read somewhere that the Anderson hitch is not recommended with cushioned pin boxes, such as the Mor-ryde. Leaves me out.

I ordered the factory 5 th wheel on my 2015 F 450 . Puck system is the best. Reese 26.5K capacity pulling a jayco seismic 4212 that is maxed out when loaded. As for pulling with a gooseneck set up, no way for me. Pulled doubles to Alberta and changed every gooseneck to a king pin every trip. Tried it both ways and put on 40,000 miles and king pin is the best for safety and comfort.

As for the Lippert frame warranty, I would check again on warranty. 2 5/16" gooseneck conversion changes all the stress points and I have been told in Elkhart not to do it.

We have a 2012 Ford CCLB SRW with camper/plow prep package and we use the B&W hitch and it works great. Easy to remove or install. I have a long box so I can't comment on the slider.

Good luck

Quick update:

Thank you all for sharing your experiences. I did get the Ram 3500 with the bed liner and 5th wheel/goose neck prep.

I ordered the Curt goose neck ball and safety chain pucks off amazon. They are about $100 cheaper than the dealer ball/pucks.

I ordered the Andersen ultimate. I have the mega cab short bed, so I'm not sure if I'll regret not getting a slider, but we'll see.

It has been two years since you posted this. I’m curious how happy you’ve been with this set up or if you’ve changed to something else.

I just got a new GM with the factory prep package and spray in liner. Also just ordered the Curt ball from Amazon. I have already been using the Andersen hitch with my old truck on a B&W turn-over ball and a Rhino liner. I liked the Andersen with that ball and liner but, I’m not sure about the new liner and puck system.

I would like to hear from someone else with experience... First hand experience goes a long way.

I still use this set up. I have not changed anything. So far it’s been trouble free. I’ve wondered how it compares to the B&W set up. I’d be interested to know you opinion after trying the drop in ball set up.

I'm sold on the puck system. I have a Ford but I'm sure its similar. Want to pull my gooseneck I just drop the ball in. Want to pull my 5er just drop the hitch in swing 4 levers and pin them and I'm ready to go. As for a liner I have an aftermarket spray in. The spray doesn't cover the puck attachment points which are to the frame. So there's no interference at all from the liner.

My '11 F350 had the factory pucks and I used a Reese 25k Elite. When I switched to the Chev I installed the Reese underbed puck kit and my Elite. The stamped flat spots in the Ford were better but I like that there are no rails on the bed when I'm not towing.

I have 2016 F250, factory spray-in bedliner, And factory 5th wheel pick system. I had dealer throw in adapter to use my Reese 16k from my old truck in the new truck. Works great.

Hello there,
I have the factory prep in my Ram. I got it because I didn't want to mess with an after market system. I use the Pullrite hitch for my 5er and they have a rail kit that attached to the Dodge 5th Wheel prep system. I like it because I can remove my hitch and all the hardware and have a clean bed. I U-Tube the best hitch out there and I found that Pullrite is #1 so that's why I went that route.

You also asked about the goose neck attachment. I also was courious about it so I u-tube it. What I found out is that the goose neck attachment puts stress on different parts of the 5th wheel frame that weren't designed for. In my own opion that is not what I want to do. I guess you need to do some research and decide what best fits your use. I hope I helped you in some way. Good luck in your endeavors.

Chris

I broke down yesterday and bought a B&W Companion 3700. It was a combination of reasons for abandoning the Andersen. Nothing in concrete fact, just my perceptions. The Curt ball wobbled while the B&W turnover was very rigid. The new OEM spray in liner being so thin compared to the thick, rubbery Rhino liner.

It all boiled down to the B&W Companion being secured in the 4 points with the puck system vs the Andersen using the loose ball in the bed and the thin hard liner. I just couldn’t see what would keep the Andersen from sliding the tiny amounts from the loose ball and eventually rubbing and wearing spots in the bed. If the new truck would have had either the rigid ball or the thick rubbery liner I would have probably stayed with the Andersen.

I probably should have just stuck with the Andersen. I’m sure your ball is just as loose and you’re using it on the same thin liner. Yours hasn’t made any rub spots has it?

This is my attempt at uploading a video I put on youtube over a year ago with my review of the Andersen. About 1:20 seconds into the video you can see the impression on the bed liner made by the Andersen. Today the bed still looks the same way. The bed liner has not rubbed off, but there is sign of friction.

I only tow less than 10 times a year with most trips about 100 miles. Logest is about 200 miles. If I towed more it could be possible to rub through the liner, maybe..?

Hitches seem to be such a personal choice. I have 2014 Ram 2500 diesel, the factory puck system and sprayed liner, and the aluminum Anderson Ultimate hitch. We just pulled our 5th wheel 1650 miles south. It was the 1st long trip with the hitch and it performed extremely well. My only note of caution is to check your tightness on occasion. I had to re-torque ours one time on the trip.

I'd love to hear a review from you about the comparison between the hitches if there is anything significant you notice from hitching/towing perspective. Chucking, user friendly, ??

I too have noticed re-torque needed occasionally.

I bought a 2017 Dodge 3/4 ton and had the factory 5th wheel prep put in. I've got a 16K Pullrite slider w/the Pullrite adapter and It all works great.
