Fan in Exterior Refrigerator Compartment?

I have owned several TT's, motor homes and now a fifth wheel. In all there I have never heard a fan running in the exterior refrigerator compartment. I just walked by the outside lower vent than heard a fan running rather fast. I took the cover off and looked for the fan, but could not see one. Is it in the flu pipe? I have the refrigerator running on electricity and the flu pipe was very hot to the touch. I assume the fan cools something in there. Anyone have any knowledge of this fan and how it should run? Thanks!

Is it a standard RV fridge or the residential model? The residential models have fans, but I've never heard one as loud as you describe.

The 12 cu ft double door Norcold's have fans on the back. The residential's don't even have outside vents

My Norcold 10 cu ft fridge has a fan up at the top of the vent behind it. There's a vent on the side of the RV at the bottom of the fridge and also most RVs have a vent on the roof. This provides convection cooling for the coils. Some fridges like mine also have a fan to assist with convection cooling.

When a fridge is installed in a slide out, they don't have a vent on the roof for natural ventilation, and have a fan installed to assist in cooling. Ours has one in the top vent of the fridge. Haven't heard ours run yet so can't comment on how loud it is.

I went back out later and it was off. Yes, it is in the slide. We haven't spent that much time in the new fifth wheel yet, but have not heard it run before today.

I added one in the lower compartment blowing up to help with the up draft. I heard a fan noise last year and my fan was not running. I looked down from the top vent on my fridge which is mounted on a slide out. There was a muffin fan about a foot or so blowing in the same direction as mine. It is controlled by a thermostat and you should not have to do anything except make sure it is clear.

Mine only runs when it is very hot outside.
