Fantastic fan mod

Here is my next mod.
The stock Fan-Tastic fan has no thermostat. My old SOB did.
When the trailer sits in my driveway waiting to be used again it will bake in the sun and the interior will be like an oven.
My old rig I could just leave the fan running and it would shut off when the interior got down to a decent temp.
This NorthPoint has no thermostat so I had to leave the fan running 24/7. Was no good

This is a upgrade kit from Fan-Tastic. Turns the 5000 series cheapo fan into a 6000 series by just changing out the the bottom section with the circuit board.
Leaving the motor and all other parts the same.
And a new plug and play controller as the control wire is already there.

This new controller also can reverse the direction of the fan and it will blow air in too.
Simple swap for 100 bucks. Should have been like this from the factory.

You can also get it with the controller as a remote, but from what I hear it has to be line of sight.
I'd rather it was on the wall.
Also you can get it with the fan and motor too, and mount it in your bunk vent if you needed more fan venting.
That would take a little more creative wiring, but could be done.

Klassic,

What's the part # for the Fan-Tastic Fan upgrade kit you got and where did you purchase it.

This is an interesting upgrade.

Thanks for sharing.

The kit is part# 810131
The wall control is part# 906609
It's to replace the newer Fantastic vents.. You should be able to find your model number on a sticker under the pop out screen. Mine was missing, I assumed it was a 5200 from the info I found in their site.

My dealer couldn't find the part numbers and basically refused to help me anymore and pretty much said I was full of crap with my "made up" numbers I got from Fantasic.
I searched the Internet with no luck.
There are lots of other Fantasic upgrade kits out there. Some are outdated and trying to be unloaded, but I couldn't find this specific one. It's not even on Fantasic's web site.

So I called Fantastic back (now taken over by Atwood) and told the lady my woes and she arranged to ship it to me.
If this is actually something they do for the retail consumers, I don't know.
But they charged me $58 for the kit, 29 for the control and 13 shipping.

I'm always just cracking my parked trailer fantastic roof vent open just enough to engage the interlock. This lets me run my fantastic fan when parked. Takes a pretty good rain to get water inside...

I might just do a couple of mods like this and auto open of the roof vent to make it all automatic maybe.

thanks for the numbers...

ADDED NOTE: They didn't work me either haha... Thanks anyway... All I found on google was you post here on JAYCO haha...

Doing more research i did find this... No part numbers listed - need to call for info...

Roy, it comes with the a new lift motor and lift mechanism. Also a new rain sensor too.
You will need the "phone cable" to attach the vent assembly to the wall control. Or you could get the remote control which is a different kit.

Is it in the bathroom?

Installed and works perfect.
When in auto the fan speed is dependent on the temperature difference.

Now that I have the old parts with the rain sensor, I'm changing out the bathroom manual fan as the kids can't reach it.
The control wire can run into the cabinet above the toilet and mount the old wall control on the side face beside the cabinet door.

Yes Klissic, it's in the bathroom and that's the remote on the wall to the right. I had a mobile RV repair guy order and install it. The fan that was installed at the factory broke and I didn't like it anyway because it was hard for my wife to reach it when she wanted it open.

I love my thermostatic vent that I opted for when we ordered our unit. I would not own another unit without one. My main use for this is when in storage and dry camping. Having it kick on at 82 degrees when in storage keeps the unit cooler and air moving though it. I put a Maxx air II over it so the rain sensor never kicks on.

Just remember to turn it off before you go on the road as it will ad to road debris coming in the unit through other vents if open.

Nice mod!

I used the fan parts I exchanged on the main fan, and put them in the bathroom.
Now the bathroom fan has a rain sensor and the speed can be turned way lower.
Managed to fish the RJ11 wire down the wall too.

A note for anyone who wants to do the above swap.
YOU NEED THIS ADAPTER FROM FAN-TASTIC!
Or it won't work
12 hours later I found this out.

searching for the RJ11 adapter

I need one of these RJ11 dongle adapters to install the wall mounted non-wireless remotes. I have searched on the internet for them, but cannot find one. How can I get one?
