Fifth wheel hitch cover

Can anyone recommend a quality cover for a B&W patriot 16k hitch?

My hitch is being installed in two weeks and I would like to purchase the cover prior to install.

I am receiving delivery of a Jayco Eagle HT 29.5 FBDS at the end of February.

I bought a soft rollup tonneau cover from Costco. Unfortunately, Costco isn't selling them anymore, but here it is in the link.

I too have the soft rollup tonneau cover on my truck. Keeps everything cleaner and dryer back there.

I just installed a retrax bed cover on my truck. It's awesome.

Unable to use a bed cover since I have a bedrail mounted rack attachment for my Thule Xsporter. The rack is used when the camper is not attached to my truck.

You will need to remove those brackets when towing so why not swap back and forth between hitch and rack. Better for your hitch stored out of weather when not in use.

I was hoping I would have enough clearance to keep brackets on. I guess I will have to see when I get the camper. I purchased the rack when I had a travel trailer and I am hoping to still use.

I had a tire blow out on my travel trailer in the fall and it was totaled. I was hoping to get a few more years out of it before I stepped up to the fifth wheel. I probably would not have spent $800on the rack knowing I would be getting a fifth wheel sooner than later.

Thanks.

Concur that you may want to remove these racks when towing your 5er. Typical clearance is 6" and those appear to be sticking up 2 or 3". You would be pretty upset backing into a campsite if this impacted the overhang.

As for the cover, they are not as common as they used to be; you might try an upholstery shop to see if they can make you a custom cover. I have some parachute rigger buds that do alot of custom work like this.

I assume the brackets near the cab would be fine?

Thanks.

You could go white trash and put a contractor grade garbage bag on it and wrap the bottom with a bungee cord to keep the bag on. And I'm not sayin white trash in a bad way, it's more of an analogy with regards to the bag! Lol!

Careful Dan. The PC police may come after you! LOL! [emoji3]

I've done that myself BTW. I like to call it Redneck engineering.

I used the Cover from an old Outdoor grill. It fits right over my PullRite Superglide hitch. I use a Bungee cord to hold. It’s on the Hitch whenever the Fiver is not attached. Sturdy fabric without worrying about ripping

Yes, no issue with the ones closest to the cab. The most recent poster had a good idea with an appropriate sized BBQ grill cover.

I've never covered my hitch, wasn't worried about it. BUT I will soon be replacing a grill cover and I might just use this idea.
