fifthwheel tires

Hey everyone, I'm a newbie here and I wanted to get opinions and or experiences with tires on heavy 5w's. I have a 2010 Eagle 365bhs and noticed today that one of the marathons has a bulging belt in the tread and the tires were already replaced once by goodyear in June 2012. Less than 5k on them.
Would like to install goodyear g614's but don't know if the aluminum wheels can handle the 110 psi the 614's require.

The 614's don't "require" 110. I have them on our PINNACLE and only run 90 per GOODYEAR's pressure chart based on our weight.

Thanks for replying, did your rv come with the 6 spoke aluminum wheels?

On my rig, I had trouble with the E rated Marathons. Replaced twice and had the same type problems .. My rims are rated for 110psi and have 8 lugs. I went to G614's 2 years ago and could not be happier. I run then at 100psi.

Look closely on the inside spoke of the cast rims and there should be a stamping with a psi rating or a load carrying capacity. I think the 6 lug rims are 80psi. Bad news if you want G614's. You can purchase rims and sell the others. Either way those bulging tires are going to be a problem.

Thanks Norty1, we probably have the same wheels.
How did you find out what those wheels were rated for (psi wise)?
I just got this camper and was putting wheel locks on today and noticed one of the marathons was slap sideways on the treads.

I agree on G614's. I couldn't be happier and my wheels are rated for 110 psi. A former Jayco owner on this forum had a 2011 Pinnacle and his wheels looked just like mine, but his were rated for 80 psi max, so you do have to check. Just grab a flashlight and crawl under and have a look. I took a piece of paper towel with me to clean off the markings if needed.

I second on the Maxxis 880 as well. We put about 5,000 miles on our tires in one trip with no problems. The Maxxis performed very well.

Will do,should be stamped with psi?
And is it usually on a spoke?

Mine either had psi or weight rating or both. I simply don't recall. The markings weren't hard to find, but a paper towel will help if yours were as dirty as mine were.

We changed to the Goodyear G614 last year. The wheels are stamped with a weight rating only. A call to Jayco with the VIN indicated the wheels are rated at 90 PSI. With 90 PSI we are well within the tire rating according to the Goodyear charts. I would highly recommend getting individual wheel weights for the trailer as they will not be equally loaded. We have a difference of over 500 pounds on wheel weights, I am told that is very common on heavy 5th wheels.

Trailer tires wear out due to age more often than due to tread wear. Per Goodyear 3 to 5 years is all you should expect for a trailer tire life, at that age the tire has lost 50% of its strength.

As others have stated, I would upsize the tire rating to the highest you can justify, and run at the max tire pressure. Ideally the tire pressure noted on the sidewall.

Here is a like to a Sticky regarding Trailer Tire Facts.

I called treadit tires, the vendor that supplied the wheels to jayco, and Jordan looked my wheels up, 7 spoke aluminum , and he said they are 16x6 with a 110 psi and 3750lbs load rating. Goodyear recommends a 6.5" rim for the 614'$ is anyone running these on a 6" rim?

I am.

I have a 2011 365BHS.
I had one of the OEM Marathons throw a tread that caused about 6k in damage. Thank god for insurance....

Replaced the Tredit T03 wheels with Tredit T02 wheels and upgraded to G614 tires with the TST pressure monitoring system w flow through monitors.

All good since.

Mine are the stock 6 inch wide rims that came on it. The Goodyear dealer that put them on said the 1/2 inch width difference made no difference.

That's good to hear. I have the T02 wheels also.
Since you have a 365bhs there's no one better to ask, do you have any clearance issues with the 235 85 16's? They are close to 1 " taller than the 235 80 16 marathons.

Also,what is your TV?
