Called Jayco about my fading cap. Waiting for the reply. Sounds promising from the dealer service person I talked to before I called Jayco. Says they are taking care of problem. Have my fingers crossed.

ok guys what would you do? In October I went out to the dealer I bought my unit from and showed the service writer pics of the front cap fading on top. She said she would submit the pics to Jayco for approval. In feb. I called and they said they still hadn't gotten approval, so I called jayco and asked them. They said they had approved it on dec. 30th. and then I asked them about the decals for the cap after refinish and they said that has to be submitted seperatly after cap refinish is ok'd and to have the dealer doing the service put in a request for the decals which had to be ok'dSo I call my dealer and they said they would submit for the decals and now acknowledge they have ok from jayco for the front cap? I asked how long this would take to get the decal ok if it took 5 months for them to get the ok for them to paint the cap and they say oh it shouldn't take very long. So yesterday I call to ask them about the authorization for the decals and the lady tells me they have my camper done and ready for pickup that they had buffed it out and spotted it in, to which I reply huh you don't have my camper right now I do. Ilive about 30 miles from them and 70 miles from middlebury. I am wondering if I was willing to take it to jaycos factory service center given the circumstances would they do it instead? I have a bad feeling about the dealers service center that I bought it from with 2 previous bad dealing for warranty work. I don't want a hack patch job on my front cap and since I work with fiberglass and paint cars I know a spot in job and would be livid if they tried to spot paint over gelcoat and try to pass it off.

I would contact JAYCO and see how long before you can have them do the work, or I would find another dealer. Based on what you are saying, the outcome would not be good.

You can request any approved dealer to do your work I would start researching.

Well I called jayco today and talked with the service dept manager and set up to take it there this fall. He asked me if I was able to live with the things I mentioned as warranty concerns until after camping season and I said I was fine with that as long as it was all covered under warranty when I brought it in the fall. He said he had the whole conversation logged in the system and they would repair all the warranty items for me when I brought it up in October. Sad thing is evidently more than a few people are willing to come back to the factory for fear of the job not being done properly. Whatever happened to people caring about the job they do?

Oh and to clarify I am not talking about jayco but about the RV center I bought it from doing the warranty work on front cap. Jayco has been nothing short of gracious with me. I don't trust the rv dealer I bought it from to do the work

Well, looks like my 2014 has just started to fade, up top in the center. Not bad yet, but it has started for sure. I have about 4 months of warranty left.

Would I be better to wait a couple months on it to get worse before I submit pictures, or try it now?

The first thing you want to do is contact JAYCO via email.

service@jayco.com

Tell them that your cap is fading and you need instructions from them as to what they need from you so that you can have it taken care of under warranty. This way you have documented that your cap is fading and it is before the warranty runs out. I would include a GOOD picture of the fading.
They will ask you the standard question of did you wax it and of course you did. Eventually you will need to take it in to an authorized Jayco service center and have it verified.

Well it's done!! Love it. Left some of the decals off of the front (mtns). Now just have to submit the invoice for reimbursement.

Mine has finally gotten very visible in 2 spots. After washing all the bugs off this morning from our recent Florida trip, I took some pictures. If it's approved, I hope to get mine repainted the Ivory color as well. I never had a problem here, but in the Florida sun my 15k AC unit struggled to keep it cool inside.....the area behind the front cap was very warm inside.
It's not faded terribly bad yet, but been watching it since Febuary and have no doubt it will be bad by the end of summer.

Got the approval today! It took longer than I thought it would so I was expecting a denied request, but Jayco came through no questions asked.

Noticed the fading starting on the top edge of our 2013 Eagle. Its out of warranty. Has anyone gotten this covered after warranty? Any idea what the out if pocket repainting cost would be? I sure like the lighter colored cap.

Doesn't hurt to contact them. I believe I've read somewhere where they covered it after. Believe my quote was around 1900.

Yikes! I think I'd have the front cap chromed instead of painted for $1900.
Other than looking bad, does this effect the protection of the fiberglass?

Probably depends on location somewhat, but I was told 1400.00 for the paint work only. The decals are dealer installed and separate. I'd guess close to 1900.00 said and done is close.

Called dealer and they said it has been a known problem and to get an estimate and they'd submit it to Jayco. They told me that an Eagle Premier was in getting repainted right now and that estimate was $2800.
I'll drag mine in tomorrow on way out of town. Fingers crossed.

Dropped our 5er off last week at the paint shop to get the front cap repainted, went with the cream color to match the sides. Had no problems getting it covered under warranty and only had a few months left on the two year warranty. The paint shop was just finishing another Jayco getting a cream cap repainted. Seems like every 2013-2015 is getting repainted, Jayco had a huge failure in going with the brown front caps.
