There are a couple of JOF threads on the fading subject...., best to take it back to your dealer ASAP while still under warranty. Many have had the cap repainted under a warranty service claim.

My understanding is that there wasn't a UV protection chemical blended with some earlier paint applications.

Hey Scott! Rustic is on it. I've had our front cap re-done. Jayco stepped up and did the paint at no cost to me. Same symptoms you are reporting.

Our 2013 321RLTS has just had the cap repainted. We are waiting for the decals to arrive for it. Jayco has been very good about all of our warranty work.

We have the 2014 Jayco Eagle with the brown front cap and decals. Has anyone had problems with these fading? We are in the hot Georgia sun and I do mean hot!

I know what you mean by HOT GA sun, we live near Clearwater FL, and it is HOT.

Here is another link to the Front Cap Fading issue.

http://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/f6...ish-21158.html

We had ours repainted the same color as out TT sides. Best decision we made. The outside of the cap is more than 100 degrees cooler (dark 220+, light 119 in the FL sun). The inside front bedroom is MUCH cooler now. We were one of the first to deal with Jayco regarding this issue, they were GREAT with the way they handled the issue.

Jayco paid for the whole process/light paint, but would not warranty the light paint. No problem, we had a few months left on the Jayco exterior warranty and the service center that painted ours has a 5 year warranty on the paint.

My recommendation have them match your TT's siding and go LIGHT, you will not be sorry. Oh, make sure that who ever paints your TT, orders the side decals, as the small area on the side of the cap is part of the TT's side decal.

For anyone reading these posts and you have a front cap that is fading, make it official (ASAP) and contact Jayco (service@jayco.com) to make Jayco aware of your issue. If you are within your 2 year Jayco EXTERIOR warranty, they will cover it.

My 2013 had to be repainted as well. Took forever to get the decals, first time they sent the wrong ones, was a 6 month process for me. Lot's of caps having this work done... Good luck!

well, I did not think I would be adding to this thread but we just had our eagle out this weekend and in the sun I have the fading on top of the cap just like everyone else describes. the trailer is parked on the north side of the house so does not see much sun so that is why it probably took so long. we have about 2 weeks left on our 2 year warranty so will be contacting the dealer tomorrow. hope it goes well. hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable memorial day!

Allow me to chime in as well. Same story....same result. Jayco and our Dealer (Colerain RV) have been very receptive and cooperative in getting our cap repainted. Will drop it off on our way to FL and pick it up on the way back. Bit of an inconvenience but it could be far worse.

just curious, are you still under warranty? we bought our eagle june 1st of 2013 so we are just under the 2 years. also, did you go through any different procedures than what others have stated on this forum? it seems like everyone has had a very receptive response so far so hope that is the same for me. sounds good that they are taking care of you.

max2bob.....I was 1 month away from the end of my warranty when I started the process. I contacted Jayco Support and provided them with multiple pictures of the fading cap. They replied very quickly and advised me to contact my dealer to work out the details. Upon receiving that notice, I contacted my Dealer. They, in turn, contacted Jayco and received approval to repaint the cap. We scheduled an appointment far enough in advance to allow for decals to arrive. I will take it to them in mid-June. Hope this helped......

I would recommend that you send Jayco (service@Jayco.com) an email informing them of your issue. Just to make it official

We just got our 2014 Eagle Premier from the dealer after painting the front cap. It looks really looks good and no hassles from Jayco on any warranty work. It did take about a month to get the paint done and a few other items fixed. I did tell the dealer I did not need the 5er for 6 weeks from drop off.

jayco just asked me if my front cap is cracked. anyone have their caps cracked? they asked so they could have a correct estimate written up. in all my searching on this matter I do not recall anyone mentioning having cracks in their cap. I do not see any in mine but e- mailed them to see if it was prone to crack in any particular areas that it may be obvious.

The cap on my 2012 HT cracked by the driver side running light the first summer we used it. I took it to the dealer for repair, they called Jayco and, lo and behold, Jayco replaced the entire cap rather than repairing it. Cap got messed up the second year, but it was my fault, not Jayco's so I got to pay the deductible for another new one. You can't beat two new caps in two years, can you???????

No cracks in the Cap but during first trip after the repaint I experienced a leak at the cap/roof joint. I initially thought it was something to do with the repaint but now am of the opinion it was just coincidence. The caulking was cracked deeply which allowed the rain to seep thru. I did the re-caulk after drying and cleaning and haven't had any more leaks. And it has RAINED lately!
Someone suggested the cracks were the result of motion between the cap and roof.
