What we do: Leave both closed until quite full. Dump black first, then rinse and/or sanitize with fresh water, then dump gray. Soapy water helps rinse black tank residue. Sometimes fill either tank with fresh water before dumping. Helps flush solids and leave tank with little smell. I wear rubber gloves. Never connect reclaimed water to any fresh water system, and never use the fresh water hose for reclaimed water. Separate hoses. Stored coiled with their ends fastened and sealed together for sanitary reasons. No drips in the sanitary bay can enter either fresh or reclaimed water hose. The sanitary bay has paper towels, outside shower, and Clorox wipes in it for cleanup. I generally keep caps on the drain hose during storage to minimize drips. I use fresh water hose to do final rinse of the drain hose before storing. If I wear flip flops, I am usually extra careful, even with reclaimed water.

A full commode won't provide the same washing action as a 4-5 gallons just poured in with your foot on the lever. Just envision some of these pictures of flood damage!
The sheer volume will wash so much loos stuff out.

Sounds kind of gross but it works if nothing else does.

The higher pressure /volume created by dumping 5 gallons from a bucket very quickly will wash away more residual waste then the weaker flush water.
