Generator

Hey All... I have a quick question in regards to buying a generator for my North Point 377RLBH. I am wanting to run 1x 15k AC, the refrigerator and some lights and I was looking at these 2 options. The Honda EU3000i Handi Portable Inverter Generator or 2x EU2000i Generators linked together. I am looking for some input on both options... Thank You in advance..

Residential fridge or RV fridge? Honda gensets are marketed at max output and not rated. So they are rated lower than they are labeled.

The 3000 is a heavy beast(78lbs dry). It can weigh around 90lbs full of fluids. Last time I used one, I parked the truck near the rear of the trailer and left it in the bed. Truck beds are high now(esp 4x4 2500s). I own a pair of 2Ks. Most of the time one is enough for us, so I rotate them. I only bring both when I know I'll need the air conditioner.

I have the EU3000i and it will run the 15k AC. But on initial startup of AC you will need the genny on full power and not on economy. I run my 12cu RV fridge on LP when using genny.
Pros of EU3000i: Gas tank large enough to run all night.
Cons: Heavy

Iv'e heard some prefer 2 of the EU2000i's because of manuverablity. But gas tank size is only 1.1 gal. Where the EU3000 is 3.5 gal.

EU3000i is probably not going to be big enough to run both, AC & Residential Fridge.

Have you looked at the champion generators? I just got one for my 377 and it's a dual fuel model which can run my res refer and ac on propane. Cost about the same as 1 Honda 2k genny

That's what I meant, not enough for 1 15k AC and a Residential Fridge.

Be careful w/ your Honda nomenclature.

The 3000 Handi, while more portable, is inferior to the EU3000is.

It is SIGNIFICANTLY louder 65 dB(A) @ rated load, 57 dB(A) @ 1/4 load vs. the EU3000is's 58 dB(A) @ rated load, 49 dB(A) @ 1/4 load.

Also the Handi puts out slightly less power: 120V 3000W max.(25A) 2600W rated (21.7A) vs. 120V 3000W max.(25A) 2800W rated (23.3A).

I had a EU3000is. I had to put a wheel kit on it b/c its a beast to lug. 2 man job into the back of your pickup unless you're a giant (and I'm far from a weak individual). If you value your back anyway.

2 EU2000's when I do it over again. I sold the EU3000is. Beautiful genny, super SUPER quiet. Just too damned heavy and a pain in the backside to get it loaded. Also takes away too much cargo capacity from my truck.

All the above is why I'm installing an Onan 5500 in my 2017 Eagle 293RKDS. So tired taking the generator in and out of the truck bed. Fuel tanks, fuel treatment, battery and exhaust stack. Than you need to secure it or the stuff disappears.

Hey have any of you guys heard about the WEN 56200i 2000 Watt Inverter Generator? It looks like it compares very well to Honda with the dual 2000w option and a lot cheaper.

I purchased two Honda 2000s instead of one Honda 3000 because of two things; 1) Weight, and, 2) Many times I only need to use one generator because we don't need AC on most of our trips. One Honda 2000 is so quiet we can't hear it running on Econ while inside the TT. It's also quiet enough for campfire conversations if the generator is about 20 feet away.

If you get the bigger gen this is a life (back) saver. I have one in the back of my truck and use it for all kinds of things.

I run 2 Honda 2k's parallel. With that I can run 1 of my 2 15k ac, 12 cu ft RV fridge (not residential), outside kitchen fridge and a couple of TVs. I went the 2 2k route because of portability and weight. Lots of times I only run 1 in cooler weather.

In addition, when I run both Gennies, I have an extended run fuel system that runs of off 2, 5 gal gas containers. I can run for a long time in this setup without refueling.

I'm in the market for a little 2000 watt inverter. I've always been a Honda guy but now I wonder ...

If I wasn't willing to pay the $2000 for 2 Honda or Yamaha generators I would look at the Ryobi generators sold by Home Depot. The reviews show they are very quiet and you can buy 2 for $1199. I've been buying Ryobi cordless tools for years and every one has been well made so I wouldn't be afraid to buy their generators.

I have one and love it. Haven't used it for much of anything. Got it on clearance...looks like someone bought it, used it 1 time and returned it.
