I used to grease my king pin on my other 5'er. When we took delivery of our new 5'er the tech that showed us around said he used a spray on dry lube. Anyone else do this and what are some thoughts. Should grease be used?

I agree with rray that a good teflon slide plate and some dry lube is the best way to go. Have been pulling my 5er for 3 years and have purchased only 2 teflon plates so far and have had zero problems....it's worked good for me.....and yes it is much cleaner.

The first year I had my 5er I didn't use anything but the teflon plate and I fought hooking up and unhooking. After I finally greased it, it was easy. I wasn't aware of the dry lube, but that will be the next change I make. The grease is very messy year round if you don't remove the hitch. Thanks again for the info.
I use slip plate (graphite spray) on my hitch and pin box (I have a Sidewinder), dry lube the pin, and jaw. Any good teflon dry wax will work, the stuff dries like baby powder, less mess.

I used a plastic disc on our old trailer. Used it for four years and it still looked like new.
