hitch mount bike rack

Does anyone have a suggestion for a hitch mounted 4 bike rack? We have a Jayco HT 26.5 BHS fifth wheel with a hitch on the back of it. We are trying to find something for 4 bikes that isn't a piece of junk.

If you want quality look at the Thule or Yakima racks.

Swagman is one of few that warranty their racks for the back of trailer use.
And, not all of their racks carry this warranty.
Just an FYI.

I would suggest a platform rack over a hanger rack like the Swagman shown. The long arm of rack up to the attachment point will tend to amplify the whiplash effect that these racks all suffer from. Also, looking that the attachment clamp for the one in the link, I would say that attaching 4 bikes would be a bit of an affair.

Although it is true that Yakima and Thule don't recommend their racks for back of trailer use, IMO that is primarily to limit the company liability in this high failure environment. My Thule (990XT Doubletrack) rack is much heavier construction than the Swagman rack I gave my sis for X-Mas (it was much less expensive), and warrantied or not I am more inclined to trust a couple of thousand dollars of bikes to the Thule. I use my rack over the A-Frame on our TT with an adapter from Arvika,.They make a similar device for 5ers too that lets you see your bikes out the back window, but check clearances carefully. The Thule T2 line has a couple of nice 4 bike models.

I have a swagman 3 bike rack. No issues and as posted, it is approved to be used on a trailer or fifth wheel

I've used a Swagman for quite a few years with no issues at all. I do, however, use a stabilizer at the receiver to eliminate the wobble. It makes a huge difference. The vertical bounce of the rack ( or any hitch mounted accessory)is hard on the hitch. I use a stabilizer on the 5er, on my pick up and on the DWs Touareg.

Northshore bike racks

Here is a real good brand but a little spendy. What I like about this one is your bikes will not bang into each other like the ones that hang against one another. I have $799-1000 bikes with disc brakes that will bend if they hit each other so the cost is worth it. Remember the rear of the trailer bounces like crazy.

North Shore Bike Racks

Good luck

I used this Swagman Trailhead 4 RV bike rack this past season. It worked great.
