Hot water heater issues.

I have a ATWOOD GC6AA-9E hot water heater and I have a problem. I get a little hot water when I first turn on the water then it goes cold. I go out to the pressure valve it has hot water coming out but the water coming from the drain valve is just a little warm.

When you say drain valve, are you are talking about the drain plug on the heater itself? If so, very odd that this water would be warm, but the water out of the pressure valve is hot. Did you doublecheck your winterization valves to make sure the bypass valve is closed?

It is the valve out side of the heater. I see some have a plug this is a valve. I have checked and made sure the bypass switch is on.

Do you have your water heater bypass valves set correctly, if equipped? The ones for the cold water inlet and hot water outlet on the HWT should be open and the valve that's between the Hot/cold lines should be closed.

I am not sure if I have heater bypass valves. I only see the lines coming out of the tank with the valves and they are open.

Hotrodbob, on the hot/cold lines that you see coming out of the heater, do you also see a pipe running between them with a valve? If so, this is the water heater bybass, make sure this valve is closed.

The valves may be on the back where the cold input and hot output are located.

I looked and there is a valve just like you all show and told me. It was turned on and not in the closed side. Went and turned it off and it now works right. Thanks all.

One more thing fixed. See my daughter used the 5th wheel to live in for awhile. We have to get it back to a useable trailer.

Now to fix my water tank leaks.
