Installing Permanent Water Filter

Hello!

Has anyone attempted to install a permanent water filter on their trailer? I have a 2017 Jayco 29.5 BHDS..

When winterizing the system, it seems (in theory) to be fairly simple. Splice in a water filter and celebrate in the victory of filtered water.

Wondering if anyone has attempted it before or has any thoughts? I'm getting tired of the blue filters hanging from the hose. No matter what adapters I attempt to buy (elbows, etc), they always seem to drip and it drives me crazy!

Thanks!
D

I have not heard of anyone adding that mod.

I do not have any external filters my water lines for my htt. However, my kitchen cold water line does have a splice joint in it to add a water filter. You may have that same design feature. Downfall is it only filters the cold water to the kitchen sink, but most people only want the water they drink filtered.

I gave a good friend of mine my old small house filter. It has pipe threads, so pipe to hose adaptors where used. He mounts it at the hose bib, it does not leak at all, and the filter cartridges are very cheap, and you can get a choice of filters.

Many have done this. In a TT it's typically done as a stand along set up rather than affixed to the Rv and plumbed in. Many do a double filter in a box, run your hose into that and then out to the water source. Uses standard home filters.

I use this and I attach to the outside under the 5er when I am camping. https://www.amazon.com/Pentek-150237...+filter+system

I replace the filter once a year. It works great. I dont have to worry about winterizing, as its only attached when I am camping.

My Eagle came with one from the factory. What I have learned is that unless you do not want water pressure, put in only 5 micron sediment elements. At the end of the day most water in CG's is potable so taking out sediment is my only concern. I don't drink from my taps, just cook, clean and brush.

It's as simple as you say, but remember to remove the cartridge prior to winterizing and it will take that much more AF since you now have another thing to fill.

Check this website for water filtration--rvwaterfilterstore.com. I use a two stage filtration system, first filter is sediment and the second is a carbon block. Great for all water needs. Remember you skin is the largest organ of the body and you certainly want clear water to shower.
