Installing Splendide 2100XC in 2010 351 RLSA

HI Everyone,

Just bought a Splendid 2100XC and I am going to install myself. Not too worried with the install as the unit is pre-plumbed and wired for the washer/dryer combo. My concern is where to cut the hole for the dryer vent. As you may know the washer/dryer cabinet is in the door side front corner of the bedroom, as are all the unit from 2010, I believe. Where to cut that 4" hole. This makes me nervous!! Could you guy take a picture of where yours is, if installed? I have included a picture of the sidewall that Jayco sent me. Maybe indicate on that diagram?

I went with the ventless just for this reason.

I heard the ventless don't work very well drying the clothes, hence, the vented unit.

For me the biggest no no for the ventless model is that it uses water to dry.

Since I don't have acces to a well on my land and carry my water , it was a no brainer.

Mine dries really well, more often than not , 60 min is too much time

Well I guess it is irrelevant. You will like having a washer dryer. I'd start with a tiny pilot hole from the inside using the bit as a depth Guage and drill a series of tiny holes to make sure you can get the vent located properly.

Every RV board I've looked at. Without exception. Did a lot of research prior to the purchase. Too many too list. The only issue is drying time.

Well mine works very well, as do all the units of people I spoke too. In any event you will enjoy having a washer dryer. It makes it that much nicer when camping.

Sorry, not trying to insult the ventless system. Just heard that it takes a long time to dry. I am a seasonal much of the time and pay my own electric at the park. Its quite pricey in NY. When I'm traveling, electric is a non issue as it is normally included in the nightly rates. matter a fact heading to Cape Cod on Sunday, really looking forward to that trip! No time to install the washer prior though.

Oh I understand. There is a lot of misinformation out there and I'm always curious.

If you haven't already removed your shelving on mine there was a false panel that hid the plumbing. Many of the units I've seen were marked for vent location.

If it were me I would install the unit first and test it with a vent pipe running to a window before finalizing your installation. One commonly overlooked Issue is the necessity to have access to the vent pipe after the unit is installed for cleaning the lint buildup.

On my particular rig the location that the unit fit in was not square meaning the vent would have to come out the back and then routed up and exiting the side of the coach above the height of the dryer.

My folks ran into this issue with their coach as well.

Even if it takes some extra time you best do a dry run 😆😆 to make sure everything goes as planned prior to cutting that first hole.

I have a 371flfs. my unit is just behind the tires so I don't think It will help you. The washer's back is against the wall , It was one of the reason I chosed this floorplan. I will post a picture anyway when I get back tonight.

Ventless units work, they just use a lot of fresh water to do it. I can and do run a "have to" load while boondocking which I wouldn't want to do with a ventless unit due to fresh water usage.

I'll take a picture for you in a few. It is still dark here.

I frequently start a load as I'm going to bed. I never even feel it anymore.

Here is a picture of my vent location. My Designer is a 2010 also and the vent location is just slightly higher than the exit position on the back of the 2100XC.

Wow, does it need a bath after looking at this picture. It was washed/waxed just before this trip to Florida, of course that was in April. I know what will be done when I get back to my home base in 3 weeks.

Wow, this thread is like tires, brakes and satellite TV systems. Splendide ventless combo is not what this RV er likes. Got one for sale if you need one. It is sitting here in the Garage along with the Domectic double door 3 way that got replaced with a residential.
We tried it for 3 months and hated it. Went to a Whirlpool stackable W/D and vented the damn thing like it is supposed to be.
When you cut the hole make very sure that the aluminum stud is not anywhere near your hole. I used a stud finder and drilled a pilot hole and cut away. Hit the easy button!
