Interior Lights Flickering/USB Port Hot

Several things occurred but starting last night the USB ports in the bedroom that we were using to charge our phones stopped working. And our phones kept making noises like they were charging then not charging. This morning wife noticed the cables were hot & the USB charging port was hot & was still hot 3 hours later. Oh, there was an electrical smell.

When we turned on our lights we noticed them flickering - the lights in our bedroom as well as the living room. I turned off the shore power & they continued to flicker. We do have a surge protector on the post.

Did notice that once the RV campground started to empty the lights didn't seem to flicker as much.

What should we be looking for/at?

Thanks in advance,

Since the CG power could be the problem, probably should be looking for an EMS (Electrical Management System). Look at the Progressive Industries units. They are very popular on this site (full disclosure: I have one) and have an outstanding warranty.

i and many, many others have had those USB ports go bad and cause issues like what you are describing. Unplug anything from them and have things checked. My chargers pulled out of the wall the 2nd time we used them. Replacements were no better. I bought quality ports from Amazon and just replaced them.

I would throw the breaker to those USB ports until you can have someone qualified check them out.

Sounds like you got some bad electric from the CG service.

Agree that an EMS should be considered. I have the hard wired unit in mine and numerous times it has shut due to low voltage since installing.

Thanks for the feedback. Since it is still under warranty, will follow-up with the dealership on the USBs. Wife had new charging connections but forgot to get them out (yes, it is her fault this time).

As far as EMS, we talked to the place where we store the unit and there is some pros/cons we need to consider.

One of our usb ports was defective and fried my wife's cell phone. Jayco treated us right on our loss. But, needless to say, we don't use the usb ports anymore for charging our electronic equipment.
