Is a 2nd AC unit needed?

Heading to Utah this summer pulling a 2015 Jayco 345BHTS, leaving Cape Cod in Late June. Last summer we hit Yellowstone without any AC issues, however I'm wondering if I should invest in a second AC unit for the Jayco as it will certainly be a bit warmer in Utah. I believe the 345 is set up for a second unit. Anyone have any thoughts on the idea?

No ifs ands or buts. It's worth having the 2nd. We previously lived in a 40' 4-slide fifth wheel with 2 AC's, and they barely maintained in the summer. The rigs we're shopping for now offer 3 AC's as an unwritten option, and no doubt we'll have 3 if it's offered. Another benefit to the 2nd, is you have a backup if one craps out on you.

I find it necessary when it's in the mid to upper 90s and you are in full sun.

Yes it is well worth it. If you don't need it, don't run it, but if you do need it and don't have it, your SOL.

I was leaning to 2 AC's and asked the same question when ordering our 28BHBE and the advice here solidified the decision. We plan to head west with this camper as well being a much larger camper we won't be able to tuck into as many shady sites as we had previously.

It was cheap insurance in case the main went out and much less expensive to add when ordering a camper vs later on.

My 351RLTS has two A/C units, a 15,000 and a 13,5000. That's not enough.

I am in Texas.

Thanks for your answers. I believe I knew the answer before I asked, and your help has solidified my decision.

We ordered our 338 rets with the single 15000 btu and the prep for the second with the 50 amp service. My problem is a lot of the parks we go to don't have 50 amp on all pedestals. I was thinking about installing the 2nd unit and finding the circuit connected to it, then connecting a separate 20 amp plug for that air so when I am at a site with a 30 amp and want to run both I could plug the second in to their 20 amp plug on the pedestal?

Another thing, with two you can run the one in the room you are not in to reduce noise and the ceiling fan stays on.

Since wife and I are thinking of buying a bigger trailer for Florida, I'd like clarification.

Aren't all the air conditioners ducted into the same ducts? Or is one ducted and the other is not?

typically the one in living area is ducted throughout ... the one in bedroom would have a roof shroud and air vents in the shroud service just bedroom

It depends on the model. My Eagle has 2 ac's that are both ducted into the same ducts. Either one will blow cool in all of the trailer. My BR ac is 15K which is nice and costs less than the 13,5k low profile. Only negative is it sticks up a couple more inches at the highest part of the roof.
