Jayco 31.5FBHS

Does anyone know anything about these? Who has one? Any problems? Kitty and I are looking once again for a bunk house. We looked at a Eagle 365 but now we are looking at the Eagle super lite. Any input would be appreciated.

That was the model I originally went to my dealer to look at. It's nice but there were things that I just didn't like. The bottom bunks being on the floor was one of them as the TV location. It's a nice camper though. When we got to the dealer, we were shown the 31.5BHLT and for us it was just a better choice (unless you need the 4 bunks).

My buddy has and 09 and we camp together a lot. The unit does great towing with his f350 SRW. The MBR bed does get cold though from the storage locker underneath it he's told me. Over all it's been good to him and all our kids love hanging out in the bunk room, that was until we go ours this year. Same amount of room in the common living area between the two. Good luck with your decision.

I looked at the 365 BHS as well and went with the 31.5 FBHS; I felt the 365 BHS was alot of trailer for my F-250. I have three kids and all like the front bunkhouse; I dont mind the bunks on the floor it allows me to pull those matresses up if not needed and gives more play room in the bunkhouse and the same amount of room in the living area. It also has plenty of inside storage for clothing and food items. I also like that the toilet is in a seperate room from the shower and sink; allows one to use toilet while someone is showering if needed. We have used ours twice and have had no problems with it so far. The tralier pulls well behind my TV and as not near as heavy as the 365 BHS. If I was full timing and not just family camping then I may have considered the 365 BHS a little more. The only thing I do not like is the sliding doors in the master bedrrom and bunk house; wish it had regular hinged door like bathroom. I also looked at the 30.5 DBSA super lite and really liked the 31.5 FBHS since it had more bunk space, more wardrobe storage with the bed turned sideways, and I did not need the half bath.

Thanks to all for your input. I called the nearest (180mi) Jayco place yesterday. They have one is stock so Kitty and I will be traveling to take a look. We need the 4 bunks for the gkids. Our current camper is a '97 Designer TT. Very nice TT until bed time. With the 4 gkids, no sleeping room. When they were small, gender was not an issue. They could all be piled in the same bed. Now that is not the case. can't beleive they are that old. Where does time go?

Thanks for your input. Happy camping

I was originally looking at the 30.5DBSA. I bought the 365BHS because I got such a great deal. The 365BHS didn't cost that much more, once we got the rvdirect price matched, and it is WAY nicer, and LOADED with options.

I just don't think my current TV (Chevy 2500 duramax) is safe to pull the 365. Kitty and I both really like the features of the 365, but don't want the added expense of a new TV. (Chevy 3500 duramax) I think the 31.5 it light enough for my TV. However I could use input. (Not "check the owners manual, etc")

My F250 has NO problems with the slightly larger BHLT

Shorty. You're right with the weight difference. If you don't need it for every trip since there GK then stick with the light. When mine is loaded there's some weight there and I have a dually. You're 2500 will do just fine with reduced pin weight and lighter frame. The other cheaper option is to get some bags in rear since you'll have the torque with the diesel which would be the same specs.
One thing I remember now is the shower door on the 31.5 had a single swing door and not the two new rounded sliders. His is out of whack and does not stay closed on the road when in tow. Don't know if all Jayco's went to sliding doors or not. Just FYI.

I too think the 365 BHS is too heavy for a 3/4 ton TV; this was the main reason I did not consider it after seeing the specs on it. I did not want to put my family in danger or anyone elses towing a trailer that is too heavy. I like to be comfortable when towing and not make it a job trying to tow too heavy; it takes the fun out of the trip when you have to work so hard to tow. My TV is only rated for a 14,500 lbs trailer so the 365 would have been pushing if not exeeding my limits with gear, food, and family. I really could not justify the additional cost as well for just doing weekend camping with the family. The Bunkhouse on the 365 is bigger, but kids are only in there at night. The 365 did have some nice upgrades though.

As for the shower door issue that was mentioned previously, I have not experienced that issue. My shower door has remained in line and closes fine after each tow. I have been very happy with mine so far and would definetly buy another.

What year and configuration (crew cab? etc) is your Chevy 2500 Duramax?

A 2011 crew cab can pull a 15,600 lbs fifth wheel.

The unloaded weight of the 365BHS is 11,740 lbs, and the Gross Vehicle Weight is 15,800 lbs.

We have a 31.5 FBHS. Several things I love. 1. Tall Master Bedroom (I am 6'3"). 2. I like the bottom bunks being on the floor (Allows for storage while traveling across the whole floor, and this weight is over the fifth wheel so the weight will be on your truck NOT on the load range D tires that are already close to MAX capacity) 3. Separate water closet 4. Lots of inside storate

Things that are not so great

1. 15" Load range D tires (replacing my with 16" E Tires soon) 2. Not enough outside storage (I think the new models have a storage compartment on awning side at back, not sure how big this is but my model has closet doors that go all the way to the floor inside.) 3. Bedroom doesn't get as cold as rest of the unit.

Other than these things I think we will keep ours for several more years.

I agree with everything said here. Our 2010 is a great unit, we had some minor problems at first, but they are the same with any brand. I have zero problems handling this fiver with my truck.

We have a 2011 31.5 FBHS and love it. We haven't had any problems with it yet, except the water pump is horribly noise, but other than that we love this camper. We have 2 kids that like to bring friends and for us it is the perfect camper. we also tow a 4500lb boat behind it with no problems at all. We searched all the popular brands and deceided on this one and couldn't be happier. Hope this helps.....Mark

Kitty and I made the trip to look at the bunkhouse. Just what we need, auh "want". Wingard Sat Dish on the roof, and hitch. There is just 31,200.00 reasons not the get it. We are going to look and price in Tulsa next week. Maybe I can find less reasons there!!!

I looked at the 31.5 FBHS and the 30.5 BHLT.
31.5 FBHS Pros: 4 bunks, tall celing in bedroom
Absolutely LOVED the 30.5 BHLT - U-shaped dinette, outside cooktop and grill, two bunks PLUS huge LOFT, the wood inside looked a lot better.
We bought the 30.5 BHLT

We have a 2011 31.5 FBHS and love it. I had the same problem as Horses Ghost and found that if you remove the cover panel in the master bedroom to the water heater, there is one of the lines that was rubbing on the wall just inside. I had a felt dot for the bottom of a chair foot. Put it between wall and pipe and noise was minimal. The bunks right on the floor are great for toddlers, as we have 3 children under 4. Wish they would have put ladders in but that is minor.

Talking RE: I own a Jay Flight 31.5 BHDS...

We have had ours for going on 3 years and enjoy it quite a bit...The reason why we like it so much was because of the large slide out family room...We have to boys 12 and 17 years old and it fits are need pretty well, lots of room and storage...I pull it quite easily with our 2006 GMC 2500 diesel.
